The Swimming competition at the 5th Pan American Games was held at the Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, during the Games' run in 1967. It consisted of 29 long course (50m) events: 15 for males and 14 for females: [1] [2] [3]

During the 1967 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, 11 world records were beaten in swimming. It is the record of all editions of the championship, a record that will probably never be beaten.

Gustavo França Borges is a Brazilian former competitive swimmer. He swam for Brazil in four Summer Olympic Games: 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004. Borges has won the fourth-most Olympic medals of any Brazilian, with four —one in 1992, two in 1996 and one in 2000—only behind sailors Robert Scheidt and Torben Grael and canoeist Isaquias Queiroz with five, and gymnast Rebeca Andrade with six. Chantal Jean van Landeghem is a Canadian competition swimmer who specializes in the freestyle and butterfly events. She won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics as part of the women's 4 x 100 m relay, this was Canada's first relay medal in that event for forty years. Van Landeghem is the reigning 100-metre freestyle and 4 × 100-metre freestyle champion in the Pan American Games, setting games records in both events. Van Landeghem is currently studying and competing through the University of Georgia. She was a competitor for Manitoba at the 2009 Canada Summer Games where she won two gold, a silver, and a bronze medal.
