West Harting Down SSSI is a 13.9-hectare (34-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of South Harting in West Sussex. [1] [2] It is part of the 317.9-hectare (786-acre) West Harting Down, which is managed by Forestry England. [3]

This is mainly mature yew forest on the chalk of the South Downs. There are also areas of chalk grassland with flora such as rock rose, carnation sedge, perforate St John’s wort and salad burnet, with grasses such as red fescue, tor-grass and common bent. [4]

The Sussex Border Path runs through West Harting Down close to the SSSI.

Amberley Wild Brooks or Amberley Wildbrooks is a 327.5-hectare (809-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Storrington in West Sussex. An area of 80 hectares is a nature reserve managed by the Sussex Wildlife Trust It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Nature Conservation Review site. It is also part of the Arun Valley Ramsar site, Special Area of Conservation and Special Protection Area.

Garston's Down is an area of downland on the Isle of Wight, rising to an altitude of 151 m (495 ft). It is located in the centre of the island, south of Carisbrooke and west of Gatcombe, and is one of the best remaining inland examples of unimproved chalk downland. An area of 20.3 hectares was notified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in 1971 for its biological features. The down is situated in a remote area and provides extensive views over the surrounding countryside and distant coast.
