Westmoor Park is a 162 acre park and farm located on Flagg Road in West Hartford, Connecticut. The park is open dawn to dusk daily. The farm barn is open 9 am to 4 pm daily for visitors to see the animals. The primary focus of the park is environmental education. It is operated by the Leisure Services Department of West Hartford.
After being in private ownership since the end of the 17th century, the land at Westmoor Park was donated to the town of West Hartford in March 1973. Charles Hunter officially relinquished the land to the town upon his death in January 1961, with the provision that it be passed down to his wife, Leila, for the remainder of her life. When she died in January 1973, the town of West Hartford assumed control of the land two months later. [1]
In 2023, Westmoor Park was designated as a Level I Arboretum by ArbNet and the Morton Arboretum of Chicago. The Westmoor Arboretum has more than 63 different species of trees, including a Franklin Tree, Giant Sequoia, Japanese Stewartia, and European Larch. [2]

Through an agreement with the Village of Lattingtown, admission to the arboretum was limited to 200 people at any one time.
Hoyt Arboretum is a public park in Portland, Oregon, which is part of the complex of parks collectively known as Washington Park. The 189-acre (76 ha) arboretum is located atop a ridge in the Tualatin Mountains two miles (3.2 km) west of downtown Portland. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2021, in recognition for its role as a pioneer in the field of ecological restoration.
The Dominion Arboretum is an arboretum part of the Central Experimental Farm of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Originally begun in 1889, the Arboretum covers about 26 hectares of rolling land between Prince of Wales Drive, Dow's Lake and the Rideau Canal. Carleton University is located at the opposite side of the Canal. At a latitude of 45°, it can experience extremely hot and humid summers and extremely cold winters.
The Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge is a 950-acre (384.5 ha) National Wildlife Refuge in ten units across the U.S. state of Connecticut. Located in the Atlantic Flyway, the refuge spans 70 miles (110 km) of Connecticut coastline and provides important resting, feeding, and nesting habitat for many species of wading birds, shorebirds, songbirds and terns, including the endangered roseate tern. Adjacent waters serve as wintering habitat for brant, scoters, American black duck, and other waterfowl. Overall, the refuge encompasses over 900 acres (364.2 ha) of barrier beach, intertidal wetland and fragile island habitats.
Walsall Arboretum is a Victorian public park located close to Walsall town centre in the West Midlands of England. Part of the park and surrounding housing are covered by the Arboretum conservation area. In the early 2010s, the park has undergone a major restoration and redevelopment programme funded largely by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The West Hartford Reservoir recreation area is located on the western edge of West Hartford, Connecticut and 2.5 miles (4.0 km) northeast of Farmington, Connecticut. There are six large reservoirs along the eastern part of the park and a paved cycling trail that winds through the southern portion. The blue-blazed Metacomet Trail follows the highest ridge of the area and the network of trails throughout the area has led this to be a local mecca for mountain bikers, hikers, and trail-runners. The western edge is marked by Deer Cliff, a high rocky ledge that runs for about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north-south. The Deer Cliff ledges have a long tradition of climbing routes for local mountaineers, but at this time the private access to the cliff base has been closed to the public. The Revolutionary War Campsite historical site is located near reservoir #6.
Sherwood Arboretum is a heritage-listed arboretum at 39A Turner Street, Sherwood, Queensland, Australia. A 1946 addition to the site is also known as the John Herbert Memorial Vista. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 3 May 2007.
Mount Tom is a small peak, standing at 1357 feet, located in the town of Woodstock, Vermont. It is a part of the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. The peak has a multitude of hiking, running, and Nordic skiing trails, and has many sites dedicated to the national park. Standing in the middle of Woodstock, Vermont, the peak also is host to many annual town events, including the Road to the Pogue Race. Visible from the top are sights such as the village of Woodstock, the sister peak of Mount Tom, the Ottauquechee River, Vermont Route 4A, and many neighboring mountains.
