Whatcom Pavilion is a 1,200 seat multi-purpose arena located in Bellingham, Washington, United States on the campus of Whatcom Community College. It is home to the Whatcom Community College Orcas and the Bellingham Slam of the International Basketball League, [3] as well as the Bellingham Roller Betties roller derby league.

The Bellingham Slam are a semi-professional basketball team that formerly competed for seven seasons in the International Basketball League. Before joining the IBL, they played two seasons in the American Basketball Association. They were originally expected to play in Everett, Washington, but were relocated to Bellingham, Washington under the ownership of John Dominguez. The team currently competes in the annual Seattle Pro–Am basketball tournament organized by Seattle, Washington native and National Basketball Association (NBA) player Jamal Crawford.

Olympic pipeline explosion

On June 10, 1999, the Olympic pipeline operated by Olympic Pipe Line Company, carrying gasoline at the time, exploded in Whatcom Falls Park in Bellingham, Washington. The disaster started at 3:25 PM PDT when a mostly-underground gasoline pipeline that crossed Whatcom and Hanna Creeks ruptured due to various errors and malfunctions on the part of Olympic Pipeline and others. The gasoline vapors exploded at 5:02 PM PDT, sending a fireball down Whatcom Creek. Three people died in the incident.

Interurban Trail (Whatcom County)

The Interurban Trail is a rail trail in Whatcom County, Washington. It runs 6.6 miles (10.6 km) between Fairhaven and Larrabee State Park (48°38′52″N122°29′12″W) in the Bellingham area. Popular with hikers and bicycles, the trail runs parallel to Chuckanut Drive through the Chuckanut Mountains. The trail follows the shoreline of the Salish Sea and Puget Sound, with ample views of Bellingham Bay, the Lummi Peninsula, Portage Island, Lummi Island, Chuckanut Bay and the distant San Juan Islands.

Bellingham Cruise Terminal Transportation hub located in Bellingham, Washington

The Bellingham Cruise Terminal is a ferry terminal and transportation hub located in Bellingham, Washington, United States. It is near the Fairhaven neighborhood and was completed in 1989 and provides easy interchange between various modes of transportation. Operated by the Port of Bellingham the facility serves over 200,000 passengers a year.
