Cullman County is a county of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2010 census, the population was 80,406. Its county seat is Cullman. Its name is in honor of Colonel John G. Cullmann. It is a "moist" county in terms of availability of alcoholic beverages; the cities of Cullman, Good Hope and Hanceville allow sale of alcohol and are "wet" and the rest of the county is dry.

Barry Todd Wilburn is a former professional American football player who was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the eight round of the 1985 NFL Draft. A 6'3", 186-lb. cornerback from the University of Mississippi, Wilburn played in eight NFL seasons from 1985 to 1996 and in two CFL seasons for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the British Columbia Lions. He played in one final season in 1999 for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before retiring.

He set a career scoring record at Central State University, lead his team to an NAIA championship, and then played in the NBA, the ABA, the EPBL, and the EBA. The EPBL and EBA both later became the Continental Basketball Association. Wilburn was a three-time EPBL/EBA champion with the Allentown Jets, and he won the EPBL Most Valuable Player award in 1968 when with the Trenton Colonials, and the EBA Most Valuable Player award when with the Allentown Jets in 1974.

Thomas Wellborn, son of John Wellborn II, was born in Accomack County, Virginia in 1640 and died in 1702. He served as Captain in the King's Militia, and in the Virginia House of Burgesses from 1699 to 1702. He was also a member of the Board of Justices. In 1678, he became the first English settler to claim land on the Fox Islands in Chesapeake Bay, patenting 83 acres on Little Fox Island. He had a son, William, who served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War.
