Will Brandenburg (born January 1, 1987) is a World Cup alpine ski racer on the U.S. Ski Team and specializes in slalom.

Born in Walla Walla, Washington, Brandenburg began skiing at 11 months [1] and started racing at age seven at Ski Bluewood near Dayton. He moved with his family to Spokane as a youth, then raced with the Spokane Ski Racing Association at Mt. Spokane, [1] [2] and later at Schweitzer Mountain near Sandpoint in nearby northern Idaho. A 2005 graduate of Mead High School in Spokane, [3] he also played high school football for the Panthers, with a brief stint at quarterback. [4]

Brandenburg was named to the U.S. development team in May 2006. [2] At the 2007 U.S. Alpine Championships in April, he placed second in the giant slalom in at Alyeska, won by Ted Ligety. [5] [6] A day earlier, Brandenburg was named U.S. junior alpine ski racer of the year by Ski Racing magazine. [7]

Brandenburg was named to the U.S. team for the 2010 Winter Olympics, [8] and finished tenth in super combined event, won by Bode Miller, and had the second best time in its slalom run, behind Ligety. [9] He was also a member of the U.S. team for the 2011 World Championships and raced in the slalom.

Brandenburg's best World Cup finish is sixth place in a slalom at Kranjska Gora in March 2012. [10] [11]

He won the combined event at the 2013 U.S. Alpine Championships at Squaw Valley. [12]

Bode Miller American alpine skier

Samuel Bode Miller is an American former World Cup alpine ski racer. He is an Olympic and World Championship gold medalist, a two-time overall World Cup champion in 2005 and 2008, and the most successful male American alpine ski racer of all time. He is also considered one of the greatest World Cup racers of all time with 33 race victories and being one of five men to win World Cup events in all five disciplines. Ted Ligety American alpine skier

Theodore Sharp Ligety is an American alpine ski racer, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, and an entrepreneur, having cofounded Shred Optics. Ligety won the combined event at the 2006 Olympics in Turin and the giant slalom race at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. He is also a five-time World Cup champion in giant slalom. Ligety won the gold medal in the giant slalom at the 2011 World Championships. He successfully defended his world title in giant slalom in 2013 in Schladming, Austria, where he also won an unexpected gold medal in the super-G and a third gold medal in the super combined. Through October, 2015, he has 25 victories and 52 podiums in World Cup competition.

The men's combined was held on Tuesday, 14 February, two days after the downhill. The combined competition, as the name suggests, is a combination where the times in the downhill racing and the slalom events are added. One run of downhill and two runs of slalom are used to determine overall ranking in the combined event. All three runs were held in a single day.

The Skiing Cochrans are a family of American alpine ski racers from Richmond, Vermont, a dominant force on the U.S. Ski Team in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and again in 2000's and 2010's.

Combined is an event in alpine ski racing. A traditional combined competition consists of one run of downhill and two runs of slalom, each discipline run on separate days. The winner is the skier with the fastest aggregate time. A modified version, the super combined, is a speed race and only one run of slalom, with both portions scheduled on the same day.

Alva Ross "AJ" Kitt IV is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States. A member of the U.S. Ski Team for over a decade, Kitt specialized in the speed event of downhill, and also raced in Super-G and combined. He retired from international competition following the 1998 season with six World Cup podiums, which included one downhill victory. Kitt was a bronze medalist in the downhill at the 1993 World Championships. He also had the lead in three World Cup races which were subsequently nullified by FIS officials, due to weather conditions that did not allow the entire field of competitors to start the race. In each, Kitt was awarded the race's prize money and trophies, but not the World Cup points.

Gauthier de Tessières is a World Cup alpine ski racer from France, and has competed in two Winter Olympics and five World Championships. He made his breakthrough on the Alpine Skiing World Cup in a giant slalom in Val-d'Isère in December 2008, where after finishing 30th in the first run to narrowly qualify for the second run, he worked his way up to finish third overall, bettering his previous World Cup personal best of 15th. He won the silver medal in the super-G at the 2013 World Championships, after being added to the French team as an injury replacement. De Tessières announced his retirement from competition in January 2014 after he was not selected for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

James Peter "Pete" Patterson is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States. At the Winter Olympics, he finished 13th in the downhill in 1976 and fifth in 1980. At the time, it tied for the best finish by an American male in an Olympic downhill. Patterson was the bronze medalist in the combined event at the 1978 World Championships.

Judy Ann Nagel is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States.

Heidi Voelker is an American former World Cup alpine ski racer who competed in three Winter Olympics. She is the current Ambassador of Skiing for Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah.

Henrik Kristoffersen Norwegian alpine skier

Henrik Kristoffersen is a Norwegian World Cup alpine ski racer, World Champion, and Olympic medalist. He specializes in the technical events of slalom and giant slalom.
