James Edward Doyle Jr. is an American attorney and politician who served as the 44th governor of Wisconsin from 2003 to 2011. In his first election to the governorship, he narrowly defeated incumbent Republican governor Scott McCallum. Although in 2002 Democrats increased their number of governorships, Doyle was the only one of them to unseat a Republican.

A member of the Republican Party, he was the 43rd governor of Wisconsin, ascending from the Lieutenant Governorship when Tommy Thompson resigned in 2001 to accept appointment as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. Prior to becoming Governor, McCallum served 14 years as Thompson's Lieutenant Governor and 10 years in the Wisconsin State Senate.

Dale W. Schultz is a Republican politician who represented the 17th District in the Wisconsin Senate from 1991 until 2015. He was previously a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1982 through 1991.

Leah Vukmir is an American politician and nurse who served as a member of the Wisconsin Senate. A Republican, she represented Wisconsin's 5th Senate district. She previously served in the Wisconsin Assembly. Vukmir was the Republican nominee in the 2018 U.S. Senate election in Wisconsin, running unsuccessfully against incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin. In March 2019, Vukmir became vice president of state affairs at the National Taxpayers Union.
Gerald David Lorge was an American lawyer and Republican politician. He served 30 years in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing Outagamie and Waupaca counties, and earlier served four years in the State Assembly. At the time of his death, he was the fifth longest-serving member of the Wisconsin Senate.
Stephen L. Nass is an American Republican politician from Whitewater, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing the 11th Senate district since 2015. He previously served 24 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly, from 1991 to 2015.
Roger James Roth Jr. is an American Republican politician from Appleton, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Wisconsin Senate for eight years, representing Wisconsin's 19th Senate district from 2015 to 2023, and was president of the Senate during the 2017–2018 and 2019–2020 legislative terms. Before serving in the Senate, he was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for two terms.
The 2002 Wisconsin gubernatorial election was held on November 5, 2002. Incumbent Republican Governor of Wisconsin Scott McCallum, who had assumed office upon the resignation of Tommy Thompson, ran for his first full term in office. McCallum won his party's nomination by defeating two minor candidates, and Attorney General of Wisconsin Jim Doyle won the Democratic primary with a little more than a third of the vote in a highly competitive primary election. In the general election, the presence of Ed Thompson, former Governor Tommy Thompson's younger brother, the Mayor of Tomah, and the Libertarian Party nominee, held both McCallum and Doyle to under fifty percent of the vote, enabling Doyle to win with 45% of the vote, defeating McCallum.

Sherburn Duane "Duey" Stroebel Jr. is an American realtor and Republican politician from Cedarburg, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing the 20th Senate district since 2015. He previously served two terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly, from 2011 to 2015. After the latest redistricting plan, Stroebel is running for re-election in Wisconsin's 8th Senate district in 2024.
Joseph E. Tregoning was an American dairy farmer, businessman, and Republican politician from Shullsburg, Wisconsin. He served 23 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly, from 1967 to 1990. He subsequently served as deputy secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection under governor Tommy Thompson, and was acting secretary in late 1997.
The 1986 Wisconsin gubernatorial election was held on November 4, 1986. Republican Tommy G. Thompson won the election with 53% of the vote, winning his first term as Governor of Wisconsin and defeating incumbent Governor Anthony S. Earl. This was the first time since 1962 that the winner of a Wisconsin gubernatorial election was of the same party as the incumbent president. Jonathan B. Barry unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination.
The 2022 Wisconsin gubernatorial election was held on November 8, 2022, to elect the governor of Wisconsin. Incumbent Democratic governor Tony Evers won re-election to a second term by a margin of 3.4%, defeating Republican nominee Tim Michels.
Timothy S. Ramthun is an American consultant and politician from Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2019 through 2022, representing the 59th Assembly district, and was an unsuccessful candidate for governor of Wisconsin in the 2022 Republican primary. He has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump's attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 United States presidential election in Wisconsin.
