Madison is the capital city of the state of Wisconsin and the county seat of and largest city in Dane County. As of the 2020 census, the population was 269,840, making it the second-most populous city in Wisconsin after Milwaukee, and the 80th-most populous in the United States. Madison is named for American Founding Father and President James Madison.

Located in south-central Wisconsin, the district comprises much of eastern Dane County, western Jefferson County, and part of southwest Dodge County. A Democrat, she is the representative of the 76th district of the Wisconsin State Assembly, based in the Madison Isthmus. The district is represented by Republican Scott Johnson, since January 2023.

It includes the cities of Columbus and Lodi, and the villages of Arlington, DeForest, Doylestown, Fall River, Poynette, and Rio, as well as part of the north side of the city of Madison including the Greater Sandburg, American Center, Pumpkin Hollow and Truax neighborhoods. The district also contains Dane County Regional Airport, Madison Area Technical College, and the American Family Insurance corporate headquarters. The district is represented by Republican Jon Plumer, since June 2018.

Located in southern Wisconsin, the district comprises part of southern Dane County, including the cities of Fitchburg and Stoughton, and part of the village of McFarland. The district also contains Lake Kegonsa State Park. The seat is represented by Democrat Jimmy P. Anderson since January 2017. Prior to the Wisconsin Supreme Court overturning the 2020 district boundaries, District 47 was often used as one of the more extreme examples of Gerrymandering in the Wisconsin Legislature with the boundaries being compared to "swiss cheese".

Located in northwestern Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Price and Rusk counties, and most of Chippewa and Taylor counties. It includes the cities of Bloomer, Cornell, Ladysmith, Park Falls, and Phillips, and the villages of Bruce, Catawba, Conrath, Gilman, Glen Flora, Hawkins, Ingram, Kennan, Lublin, Prentice, Rib Lake, Sheldon, Tony, and Weyerhaeuser. The district also contains Lake Wissota State Park, Brunet Island State Park, and Timms Hill—the highest natural point in the state of Wisconsin. The district is represented by Republican Karen Hurd, since January 2023.

It includes the village of Shorewood Hills and central neighborhoods of the city of Madison. The district contains all of the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus and Edgewood College, as well as landmarks such as the Wisconsin Historical Society, the State Street pedestrian mall, Camp Randall Stadium, the Kohl Center, the University of Wisconsin–Madison Arboretum, Henry Vilas Zoo, UW Health University Hospital, and historic Forest Hill Cemetery. The district is represented by Democrat Shelia Stubbs, since January 2019. The 77th district has the highest Asian American population in the Assembly.
The 78th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in south-central Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within central Dane County. It includes the south and roughly half of the east side of the city of Madison, along with the city of Monona and most of the village of McFarland. The district contains the Capital Springs State Recreation Area and the Alliant Energy Center. The district is represented by Democrat Lisa Subeck, since January 2015.
The 81st Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in south-central Wisconsin, the district comprises the northwest corner of Dane County, including northwestern suburban and exurban Madison. It includes the city of Middleton and the villages of Black Earth, Dane, Mazomanie, and Waunakee. The 81st district also contains two wards on the far north side of the city of Madison which include the Cherokee Park, Sherman Village, North Lake Mendota, Lerdahl Park and Whitetail Ridge neighborhoods. The district also contains Governor Nelson State Park, Mendota Mental Health Institute and Middleton Municipal Airport. The district has been represented by Democrat Dave Considine since January 2015. As of the 2024 redistricting Considine no longer lives within the 81st district.
