Woodshutts is a former village and now a suburb [1] of Kidsgrove in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England. [2] It lies close to the villages of Butt Lane and Talke.
Woodshutts history dates back to the Middle Ages, with the establishment of a farmstead named "Woodshutts Farm". [3] It is believed to have been nothing more than a simple hunting lodge in the ancient Lyme Forest. After the beginning of the industrial revolution, Woodshutts began to grow into a residential area for nearby Kidsgrove. [4] This was further completed with the opening of the "Slappenfield Colliery". [5] This then saw the construction of multiple houses and churches built in the village.
The area is mostly residential, with the town of Kidsgrove and villages of Butt Lane and Talke providing local amenities for residents. [6]
