Gedling is a local government district with borough status in Nottinghamshire, England, whose council is based in Arnold, north-east of Nottingham. The population at the time of the 2011 census was 113,543.
Arnold is a market town and unparished area in the Borough of Gedling in the ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands of England. It is situated to the north-east of Nottingham's city boundary. Arnold has the largest town centre in the Borough of Gedling and the most important town centre in the northeastern part of the conurbation of Greater Nottingham. Gedling Borough Council is headquartered in Arnold. Since 1968 Arnold has had a market, and the town used to have numerous factories associated with the hosiery industry. Nottinghamshire Police have been headquartered in Arnold since 1979. At the time of the 2011 United Kingdom census, Arnold had a population of 37,768.
Carlton is a town in the Borough of Gedling, Nottinghamshire, England. It is to the east of Nottingham. The population at the 2011 Census was 6,881. It was an urban district until 1974, whose wards had an estimated population of 48,416 in 2015. Due to the growth of residential, commercial and industrial in the wider Gedling Borough, City of Nottingham, Borough of Broxtowe, Rushcliffe and Ashfield District. As well as the Amber Valley and Borough of Erewash in Derbyshire which have become quite urban around Nottingham. Carlton and Gedling as well as Netherfield form a contiguous urban area.

Gedling is a constituency in Nottinghamshire created in 1983 represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Tom Randall of the Conservative Party. The seat was a safely Conservative until the Labour Party's landslide victory in 1997, when it was won for Labour by Vernon Coaker. Labour held Gedling until 2019, when it was regained by the Conservative Party.
Sherwood is a large district and ward of the city of Nottingham, in the English ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire. It is situated approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of Nottingham city centre. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 15,414. It is bordered by Woodthorpe to the northeast, Mapperley to the east, Carrington to the south, New Basford and Basford to the west, and Daybrook and Bestwood to the north.

Arnold Hill Spencer Academy is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in the county of Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands. It teaches children from 11 to 18 - Years 7-13. It is located in Arnold but it serves children from various nearby areas including Killisick, Daybrook, Woodthorpe, Mapperley, Carlton, Sherwood. It is split into 4 buildings ("A-Block", "B-Block", "6th Form Centre", and "Ramsey House" and has around 1600 pupils and over 100 teachers. The school produced a range of Alumni, including Rohan Samrai, who notably performed a poor rendition of Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On at the 2015 Battle of the Bands. Although currently working in a Nottinghamshire cafe, Samrai claims he has not yet given up on making it in the music industry. During an interview on local hospital radio, the budding musician alluded to the fact that he still hopes to join The Rocking Robins, a terrible outfit fronted by former infamous headteacher and clown Robin Fugil.
Daybrook is a suburb of Arnold, Nottinghamshire. The area is located just outside the city of Nottingham but inside the conurbation of Greater Nottingham. It lies next to the areas of Arnold town centre, Sherwood, Woodthorpe, Redhill and Bestwood.
Daybrook railway station was a railway station in Daybrook, Nottinghamshire. It was opened by the Great Northern Railway on its Derbyshire and Staffordshire Extension in 1875–6 and closed in 1960.
Sherwood railway station was a station on the former Great Northern Railway Nottingham Suburban railway in Nottingham. The station lies within Woodthorpe Grange Park in Woodthorpe.
Killisick is an area of the market town of Arnold in the ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands of England. It also used to be a local government ward area of Gedling borough until 2015. The population of the ward as it stood at the 2011 census was 2,595. The area is currently contained within the newly created Coppice ward.
Woodthorpe Grange Park is a Green Flag–awarded public park located in Sherwood, Nottingham, Nottingham, on the northern edge of the city.
The Nottingham Suburban Railway was a British railway company that constructed a line 3.65 miles (5.87 km) in length serving the north-eastern suburbs of Nottingham. It was built to shorten the distance by train to Ilkeston and towns on the Leen Valley railway line, and to connect important brickworks near Nottingham. The short line was expensive to build due to difficult topography; it opened in December 1889, and was worked by the Great Northern Railway; the trains used that company's Nottingham terminus.
Nottingham Free School is a co-educational free school which serves the areas of Sherwood, Carrington, Mapperley Park, Woodthorpe and Mapperley. The school is located in a former factory —the Courtaulds building— on Haydn Road and first opened in September 2014 with an intake of seventy-nine Year 7 students, a number which has grown to nearly 600 pupils ranging from Year 7 to Year 13.
