Rogue Traders is an Australian electronic rock band formed in Melbourne, Victoria in 2002 by mainstay James Ash on keyboards. In 1989, Ash met fellow original member Steve Davis in London while both were working as DJs. Before forming Rogue Traders, the pair had worked together on many projects, including the dance music act Union State, which relocated to Melbourne in 1992. The group's name comes from the 1999 drama film, Rogue Trader. They were joined in 2004 by soap opera actress, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, on lead vocals, Cameron McGlinchey on drums and Tim Henwood on guitar. Davis continued as a behind-the-scenes member, contributing to the songwriting process but not making any public appearances with the group.
Natalie Bassingthwaighte is an Australian recording artist, actress, and television personality. Born and raised in Wollongong, New South Wales, she began her career in musical theatre. She later pursued an acting career in 1998 with guest appearances in television shows. Bassingthwaighte rose to prominence in 2003 on the Australian soap opera Neighbours for her role as Izzy Hoyland, which earned her three Logie Award nominations.
Here Come the Drums is the second studio album by Australian band Rogue Traders, released in Australia on 23 October 2005 by Columbia Records. The album features the Rogue Traders with the then-new vocalist Natalie Bassingthwaighte and songs primarily in the genre of dance-pop, written by Jamie Appleby, Steven Davis and Melinda Appleby. Here Come the Drums debuted in the top ten on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart.

The album was produced by band member James Ash – who has also produced the band's previous albums and the lead singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte described the album as a step up, a bit older and more grown-up. Better in the Dark debuted in the top ten on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart and is their second highest-selling album to date. This was the first appearance for all artists but Tommy Trash who appeared in Ministry of Sound Sessions Six. Disc One was mixed by The Stafford Brothers, Disc Two by Tommy Trash and Disc Three by Steve Aoki "Sessions Seven" finished 2010 with the Number 4 position in the ARIA 2010 End Of Year Top 50 Dance Albums Charts and in position 8 of the ARIA Top 50 Compilations Chart for 2010.

It was written in Solna, Sweden by Im, Hayley Aitken and Olof Lindskog, and produced by the latter under his production name Ollipop. "Smile" is an upbeat bubblegum pop and doo-wop song that consists of a saxophone rift, electric guitar, synth, handclaps, harmonies and backing vocals. Several critics felt its production was reminiscent of Meghan Trainor's sound. Lyrically, "Smile" conveys a positive message "about loving and appreciating yourself and doing all the simple things in your life to make yourself smile and be ultimately happy." The song received mixed reviews from critics; some complimented its fun pop sound, while others criticised the simple production and Im for following Trainor's sound.
