YALLFest

YALLFest is a public two-day annual young adult book festival in Charleston, South Carolina that is the largest of its kind in the South. The festival was founded in 2011 by Jonathan Sanchez of the Charleston bookstore Blue Bicycle Books along with authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Author Melissa de la Cruz joined as Director of Development in 2012. Margaret Stohl and Melissa de la Cruz currently co-chair the festival. [1]

Contents

In 2015, Stohl and de la Cruz co-founded a sister festival, YALLWEST, that occurs every spring in Santa Monica, California.

Book fairs and literary festivals are held throughout South Africa each year to promote literacy among children and adults. A country's literacy rate is often a key social indicator of development. In 2005, UNESCO Institute for Statistics reported a literacy rate of 94.37% among the population aged 15 years and older. The literacy rate among the male population in this age group was 95.4% and 93.41 for female counterparts. Alex London is an American author for children and young adults, and adults, having authored picture books, middle grade and young fiction, as well as adult nonfiction. He has worked as a journalist and human rights researcher reporting from conflict zones and refugee camps, a young adult librarian with New York Public Library, and a snorkel salesman. He lives with his husband and daughter in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
