Education in Hong Kong used to be largely modelled on that of the United Kingdom, particularly the English system. Since 2012, the overhaul of secondary school diploma has introduced changes to the number of school years as well as the two-tier general examinations. The DSE has replaced the old HKCEE and the A-levels. Education policy in Hong Kong is overseen by the Education Bureau and the Social Welfare Department.
Wah Yan College, Hong Kong also referred to by its acronym WYHK, is a Catholic all-boys grant-in-aid secondary education institution run by the Society of Jesus in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. It was founded by Peter Tsui on 16 December 1919. It was a non-sectarian school when it was founded, and the Jesuits took over the operation of the school in 1932.
The Diocesan Boys' School (DBS) is a day and boarding Anglican boys' school in Hong Kong, located at 131 Argyle Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon. The school's mission is "to provide a liberal education based on Christian principles". Having run as a grant-aided school since it was founded, the school commenced operation in the Direct Subsidy Scheme in September 2003. It uses English as the medium of instruction. Hong Kong International School (HKIS) is a co-educational private international school in Hong Kong with campuses in Tai Tam and Repulse Bay, serving students from Reception 1 to Grade 12. Pui Ching Middle School, Macau is a private Baptist school in São Lázaro, Macau. It was established in 1938 as a sister school to Guangzhou Pui Ching Middle School and Hong Kong Pui Ching Middle School after the Japanese invasion of China caused the teachers of Guangzhou Pui Ching to flee to Macau.
Sir Yue-Kong Pao CBE JP, was the founder of Hong Kong's Worldwide Shipping Group which in the 20 years from purchasing its first used ship in 1955 became by far the largest shipping company in the world with over 20 million tonnes deadweight (DWT). Anticipating the seriousness of the shipping downturn starting in the late 1970s, he drastically reduced his fleet. He was therefore able to pay off associated debt and raise cash to diversify his interests, notably through the purchase of a controlling stake in The Hongkong and Kowloon Wharf and Godown Company Limited and later Wheelock Marden, giving exposure to Hong Kong real estate, shipping terminals, retail, ferries, and trams. He was noted for his unmatched access to leaders in both the commercial and political arenas and was equally at ease with Western political leaders and the Chinese leadership in the run-up to Hong Kong's handover to China on 1 July 1997. He was also a generous philanthropist notably in educational projects. After his death in 1991 his corporate legacy was continued by his family.

Tang Shiu Kin Victoria Government Secondary School was founded by the Hong Kong Government in 1933. Named the Junior Technical School (初級工業學校) initially, and then the Victoria Technical School (維多利亞工業學校) since the 1950s, it is the first government-founded technical college in Hong Kong. The school is now located at 5 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Currently, the principal is Mr. Yan-kei CHAN.
Roots & Shoots was founded by Jane Goodall, DBE in 1991, to bring together youth from preschool to university age to work on environmental, conservation, and humanitarian issues. The organization has local chapters in over 140 countries with over 8000 local groups worldwide that involve nearly 150,000 youth. Many of the chapters operate through schools and other organizations. Participants are encouraged to identify and work on problems in their communities affecting people, animals, or the environment. Charity Navigator has awarded Roots & Shoots and its parent non-profit organization, the Jane Goodall Institute, its highest four-star rating for accountability and transparency, with 78.1% of its expenses going directly to the programs.
