Raman Raghav, also known as Sindhi Talwai, Anna, Thambi, and Veluswami, was a serial killer active during the mid-1960s, labelled by many as Jack the Ripper of India. Raghav went on a killing spree for over three years, with the first round of murders taking place in 1965 and 1966 when 19 people were attacked, and a second round of killings taking place in 1968. He was caught by Maharashtra Police on 27 September. Raghav was spared a death sentence due to mental illness, and was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment; he died in hospital while in prison custody in 1995.
The multi-billion rupee Gurgaon kidney scandal came to light in January 2008 when police arrested several people for running a kidney transplant racket in Gurgaon, an industrial township near New Delhi, India. Kidneys of most of the victims, who were the poor hailing from the nearby western Uttar Pradesh, were transplanted into clients from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Greece. The police raid was prompted by complaints by the locals from Moradabad about illegal kidney sales. The man accused of the scandal, Amit Kumar, was arrested in Nepal on 7 February 2008 and denied any hand in criminal activity.

On 19 May 2024, Vedant Agarwal, aged 17 years, killed two motorbike riders in an automobile collision in the Kalyani Nagar neighborhood of Pune, Maharashtra, India. The deceased, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, were both IT professionals and residents of Madhya Pradesh. Media reports emphasised that Agarwal was driving an unregistered Porsche Taycan, considered a luxury vehicle, and that he had purchased and consumed alcohol before the incident.
