Gojong was the monarch of Korea from 1864 to 1907. He reigned as the last King of Joseon from 1864 to 1897, and as the first Emperor of Korea from 1897 until his forced abdication in 1907. He is known posthumously as the Emperor Gwangmu.

Yi Hae-won or Lee Hae-won was a Korean princess and a descendant of the Joseon dynasty and Empire of Korea. She was born as the second daughter of Prince Imperial Ui who was the fifth son of Emperor Gojong of Korea, her mother was one of Prince Ui's concubine, Lady Yi of Sudeok Hall. Yi was one of the pretenders, as well as her nephew, Yi Won, who claimed to be the legitimate heir to the throne of the Korean Imperial Household. Yi died in February 2020 at the age of 100 in her house on Hanam City, Gyeonggi Province.
Queen Cheorin, of the Andong Kim clan, was queen consort of Joseon by marriage to King Cheoljong. She was known as Queen Dowager Myeongsun (명순대비) after the death of her husband and during King Gojong’s reign. When King Gojong proclaimed the Korean Empire, the Queen was posthumously given the title of “Cheorin, the Symbolic Empress”.
Queen Inhyeon, of the Yeoheung Min clan, was the second wife and queen consort of King Sukjong, the 19th Joseon monarch. She was Queen of Joseon from 1681 until her deposition in 1688, and from her reinstatement in 1694 until her death in 1701. She is one of the best known queens in Korean history and her life has been portrayed in many historical dramas.
Queen Hyojeong of the Namyang Hong clan, was the second wife and queen consort of King Heonjong of Joseon, the 24th monarch of the Joseon Dynasty.
Empress Sunmyeonghyo or literally known as Sunmyeong, the Filial Piety Empress, of the Yeoheung Min clan, was the first wife and Princess Consort of Crown Prince Yi Cheok, who later became the last emperor of the Korean Empire.
Queen Sinjeong, also known as Queen Dowager Hyoyu (효유왕대비), of the Pungyang Jo clan, was the only wife of Crown Prince Hyomyeong and mother of Heonjong of Joseon. She served as nominal regent during Gojong's minority, between 1864–1873, although she left all de facto power to the King's father, Heungseon Daewongun, and only kept the formal title.
The Jeonju Yi clan is a Korean clan with the surname Yi. Their Bon-gwan is in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province. The clan includes the former House of Yi which ruled the Joseon dynasty and the Korean Empire.
Imperial Noble Consort Sunheon of the Yeongwol Eom clan was a consort of the Korean king and emperor Gojong. She was given the posthumous title of Sunheon Hwang-Gwi-bi "Sunheon, Imperial Concubine of the Highest Rank". Her personal name was Eom Seon-yeong.
Grand Internal Princess Consort Yongseong, or Grand Internal Princess Consort Yeongwon, of the Yongdam Yeom clan, was a member of Joseon Dynasty's royal family as the secondary consort of Grand Internal Prince Jeongye. She was also the biological mother of King Cheoljong of Joseon and received her title after her son's ascension to the throne.
Grand Internal Princess Consort Sunmok, known before as Grand Internal Princess Consort Yeoheung, was a Korean noblewoman who became a Joseon dynasty royal family member through her marriage with Internal Prince Heungseon, and was the biological mother of Emperor Gojong of Korea.
Prince Yeongpyeong, personal name Yi Gyeong-eung, was a member of the Royal Jeonju Yi clan, as the second son of Grand Internal Prince Jeongye, and the second eldest half-brother of Cheoljong of Joseon. He was the last surviving great-great-grandson of Yeongjo of Joseon.
