The Ynys Môn football team represents the island of Anglesey at the biennial Island Games. An island county within Wales, Ynys Môn is not a member of FIFA or UEFA and plays under the auspices of the Football Association of Wales, the governing body for football in Wales.

Contents

The island was chosen to host the 2019 Inter Games Football Tournament for both men and women after football was not included in the 2019 Island Games due to Gibraltar not having enough pitches.

Ynys Môn is a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Falkland Islands official football team</span>

The Falkland Islands official football team is a representative football team of the Falkland Islands, organised by the Falkland Islands Football League. The Falkland Islands Football League does not belong to the CONMEBOL, as its member countries support Argentina in the sovereignty conflict, and therefore neither can it be a member of FIFA. Thus, the team is not eligible to play in official competitions such as the World Cup and the Copa América. The team has played in the Island Games in 2001, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2023. In 2013 the team enjoyed a record win and a 3rd place medal.

Football has been a regular event since 1989 at the Island Games, the biennial multi-sports event for island nations, territories and dependencies. A 5-a-side competition for under-16s was held at the inaugural event on the Isle of Man, and the success this minor competition brought to the games meant senior men's football was included on the itinerary for the first time in the Faroe Islands, in 1989. Women's football was included on the games' schedule for the first time in 2001.

The XVIII Island Games were held in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar between 6 and 12 July 2019. This was the second time the territory hosted the Games, the first being in 1995.

The 2019 Inter Games Football Tournament was an association football tournament which was held between 15 and 22 June 2019 in Anglesey, Wales. It was organised due to the hosts of the 2019 Island Games, Gibraltar being unable to run a tournament due to lack of pitches. As football is one of the most popular sports at the games it was decided to hold the matches elsewhere, albeit with the results not officially part of the Island Games history.

Virginia Ann Crosbie is a British Conservative Party politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ynys Môn from the 2019 general election until 2024. Prior to her political career, she worked as a director at UBS and HSBC before retraining as a mathematics teacher.

Newborough Football Club was a Welsh football team based in Newborough, Anglesey, Wales. The team saw considerable success in the 1950s and 1960s and shares the joint record for the number of Anglesey League titles. The club achieved at least 33 trophies during its existence.
