Jon Ajdini, known professionally as Yon Idy, is a Macedonian-Albanian singer and songwriter. He rose to prominence upon his debut single "Gentle", which reached number 12 in Albania. His success spawned four subsequent singles that attained chart success in the Albanian Top 100. Ajdini was shortlisted to compete at the Macedonian national selection, Za Evrosong 2022, to select the nation's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

Life and career

2019–present: Formations and continued success

Yon Idy was born as Jon Ajdini into an Albanian family in the city of Skopje, North Macedonia. [1] [2] Featuring hip-hop, pop-rock and soul music, Ajdinis's debut single "Gentle" released in June 2019 peaked at number 12 in Albania. [3] That year, "Walking the Line of Love" reached number 58 on the Albanian Top 100. [4] His chart success followed into May 2020 with "Waste No Love", and his next single, "Back Around", peaked at number 35 in Albania. [5] [6] Another charting single, "Got Me All Down", was released in late 2020. [7] In January 2022, the national broadcaster, Macedonian Radio Television (MRT), reported that Ajdini with his song "Dreams" was one of six artists shortlisted to compete at Za Evrosong 2022, the national selection competition for choosing the Macedonian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Artistry

Ajdini is primarily characterised as an indie pop and pop rock artist fusioning various music genres, including hip-hop and soul music. [3] [11] For his indie pop-described single "My Fire", the singer drew influence from Leonard Cohen, Muse and The Beatles. [12]

Musically, "Me tana" was described as an Albanian-language ethnic dance-pop song, which lyrically explores the theme of unconditional and hopeless love. "Loti" is a song by Albanian singer and songwriter Elvana Gjata. The song was composed and written by Gjata, while produced and arranged by German producers Jumpa and Lex Barkey, respectively. Loudcom Media under exclusive license from East Music Matters released it as a single for digital download and streaming on 10 June 2021. Musically, it is an Albanian-language pop, R&B and urban song fusing folk, trap and rock elements, with the lyrics telling a tale of a woman, who loses the intimacy of her loved one. Music critics applauded "Loti", with praise concentrated on its appeal, music video as well as Gjata's musical versatility. Commercially, the song peaked atop the ranking in Albania and reached the top 60 in Switzerland. An accompanying music video was uploaded to Gjata's YouTube channel on 10 June 2021 and was filmed at the Divjakë-Karavasta National Park, Albania.

Bardhul Idrizi, known mononymously as Bardhi, is a Macedonian-Albanian rapper. He attracted widespread attention in the Albanian-speaking Balkans upon the release of his breakthrough single, "Betohemi", which eventually peaked atop the Albanian chart.

North Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with the song "Circles" performed by Andrea. North Macedonia's public broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) organised the national final Za Evrosong 2022 in order to select the country's entry for the 2022 contest. Six entries competed in the national final and "Circles" performed by Andrea was announced as the winner on 4 February 2022 following the combination of votes from a five-member international jury panel and a public vote.

<i>Lamboziki</i> 2022 studio album by Mozzik

Lamboziki is the second studio album recorded by Kosovo-Albanian rapper Mozzik. It was released for digital download and streaming on 13 February 2022 by 2 Euro Gang and Urban as a follow-up to Mozzart (2020). Lasting for 43 minutes and 35 seconds across 14 songs, the rapper extensively collaborated with Kosovo-Albanian producers Pellumb and Rzon on the record. It was classified as a hip hop, pop and R&B album, comprising songs performed mainly in Albanian with limited lines in English, French, and German. Upon release, Lamboziki saw a moderate commercial success, reaching number 42 in Switzerland. Three singles released throughout October 2021 to January 2022 preceded the record, including "Bonjour Madame" featuring Noizy, "Shko" and "Ska" with Elvana Gjata. The former three were all accompanied by music videos and entered the single charts in Albania and Switzerland.
