Yonkers Middle High School is located in Yonkers, New York, United States. The school offers the International Baccalaureate program.
In 1998, Yonkers High School and Yonkers Middle School merged. [3] Yonkers Middle High School was ranked the 24th best American high school and the 4th best New York State high school in 2012 by U.S. News & World Report . [4] [5]
In 2014, an evacuation was issued for the school after 152 patients were transported from the school to several hospitals after being treated for fumes. Several students displayed pepper spray-like symptoms, respiratory issues, and shortness of breath. [6] The patients were released the next day. [7] The school opened the next day with no incident. [8]
Yonkers High School offers Advanced Placement courses and participates in the International Baccalaureate program. In line with the IB program, Yonkers High School aims to create a "community of caring learners" by encouraging community service activity among its students. Students at Yonkers High School can graduate with a standard diploma, Regents Diploma, or Advanced Designation. Extracurricular opportunities for students include clubs such as Habitat for Humanity and the Bio-Diversity Club. [9]
Yonkers Middle High School has been the subject of a few incidents. On September 29, 2021, a evacuation was issued after a bomb threat was made at the high school. This was the second time in a few days that a school in Westchester County was evacuated due to an unfounded threat. Students later returned to class after no threat was found. [10]
On January 6, 2023, a 16-year-old student was stabbed and assaulted in the bathroom of the school following a dispute over a young woman. Police said that they charged two suspects, who were two 17-year old male students. The two students were charged with second-degree attempted murder and assault. [11] A video of the assault was recorded by a student who witnessed the incident, and was later released on YouTube. [12]
Alumni include the actor and comic Sid Caesar and John Howard Northrop, recipient of the 1946 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. [13]

The Baccalaureate School for Global Education (BSGE) is a New York City public high school located in the Astoria section of Queens, New York. BSGE was established in 2002. It serves a student body of about 400 students between the 7th and 12th grades. The school is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer both the MYP and also the IB Diploma Programme rather than the Standard State Curriculum along with AP exams for regular public schools. As per the U.S. News 2018 High School Ranking, BSGE was ranked #9 in the nation, and ranked #1 in New York. Applicants formally were required to succeed in an admission test along with satisfaction of other requirements according to the grade entered. However, this form of admissions was phased out for fully screened admissions in both the Middle School and High School programs.
The Platte Canyon High School hostage crisis was a hostage taking and shooting at Platte Canyon High School in Bailey, Colorado, on September 27, 2006. The gunman, 53-year-old Duane Roger Morrison, took seven female students hostage and sexually assaulted them, later releasing four. When police broke open the classroom's door with explosives, Morrison opened fire with a semi-automatic pistol before shooting hostage Emily Keyes in the head. The other remaining hostages escaped unharmed, and paramedics confirmed that Morrison had committed suicide shortly before police were able to enter the classroom. Keyes was pronounced dead at 4:32 p.m. MDT at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Denver, Colorado, after undergoing emergency surgery.
Lansing Eastern High School is a public, magnet high school in Lansing, Michigan as part of the Lansing School District. Eastern International Baccalaureate Magnet High School is the only high school in mid-Michigan authorized to offer students the opportunity to earn an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Eastern also has the second-largest alumni association in the United States. It was located on the city's east-side on Pennsylvania Avenue, one block north of Michigan Avenue but is now located on Marshall Street on the corner of Marshall Street and Saginaw Street. The building was connected with former Pattengill Middle School next to Sparrow Hospital. In 2007, Sparrow purchased the Pattengill property to create a parking lot. With the deconstruction of Pattengill Middle School, Lansing Eastern became the oldest operational school in the Lansing School District. It opened in 1928 as the second high school in the city. The athletic teams were named Quakers because the school was located on Pennsylvania Avenue and a Society of Friends (Quaker) meeting house was located across the street. In March 2012 the Lansing School District announced that Eastern would house 7-12 grades beginning in the 2012–2013 school year. On January 20, 2016, the Lansing School Board voted to sell the school to the Edward Sparrow Hospital Association for approximately $2.5 million. Students were relocated to the former Pattengill Middle School in Fall 2019.

People who are perceived to be LGBT may also be targeted for violence. Violence can also occur between couples who are of the same sex, with statistics showing that violence among female same-sex couples is more common than it is among couples of the opposite sex, but male same-sex violence is less common.
