Hendrick Hudson High School is a public high school in Montrose, New York, United States. It draws its students from the neighboring hamlets of Verplanck, Cortlandt Manor, Crugers, the villages of Croton-on-Hudson and Buchanan, and the city of Peekskill. It is part of the larger Hendrick Hudson Central School District.
During the 2021-22 school year, there were 725 students enrolled at Hendrick Hudson, averaging about 180 students per grade. [1]
The acting principal of Hendrick Hudson is Mr. Anthony Giovinazzi. The assistant principal is Mr. Nick Katsaris and the acting assistant principal is Dr. Phyllis Amori. [2]
In the 2007–2008 school year, Hendrick Hudson High School offered 50 sections of 12 Advanced Placement courses in eight different subject areas. It also began offering a three-year science research course sequence to tenth graders through the State University of New York at Albany in the High School program. There are two college level language classes offered through Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA), in Italian and French.
In 2010, Hendrick Hudson High School introduced a new four-year engineering program through Project Lead the Way (PLTW). Since the 2011–2012 school year, a second four-year Project Lead the Way program has been offered in the biomedical sciences. [3]
The choral program comprises three choruses: Concert Choir, an SATB group open to all Hen Hud students; Hen Hud Harmonizers, an audition-based SATB group; and a Treble Chorus, also known as the Treble Makers, an audition-based women's treble chorus. The Treble Makers won Best Overall Choir and Best Women's Chorus at the Music in the Parks festival in May 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2015. The Treble Chorus was invited to sing at the celebration in May 2009 commemorating the Aaron Copland House (which is located within the Hen Hud district [4] ) as a National Historic Landmark. [5] [6] The Treble Makers have recently been collaborating with British rock violinist Daisy Jopling, having performed with her and her band at the Paramount Center for the Arts [7] in Peekskill, New York, [8] as well as the Peter Norton Symphony Space in Manhattan. At the 2010 NYSSMA Majors Festival, both the Treble Chorus and the Concert Choir (a select SATB group) achieved Gold with Distinction ratings on their performances.[ citation needed ]
The Hendrick Hudson Starboard Stars Drama Club, in 2010, was nominated for six Metro Awards, and won for Outstanding Orchestra. [10]
In 2005, 2007, and 2009 the Hendrick Hudson Wind Ensemble scored a Gold Rating in the annual NYSSMA majors festival under the direction of Joe Stamboni.[ citation needed ]
In 2006, the Hendrick Hudson Varsity volleyball team won the Class A New York State championship. [11] The team won the 2007 and 2008 Class B state championships. [12] [13] In 2009, the volleyball team went to the State Tournament for the fifth consecutive year, and lost in the finals.
The choral department has sent student musicians to the NYSSMA All-State Convention in Rochester, New York, where they have participated in either the Mixed or Women's Chorus. In 2009, three students were selected; in 2010, one student; and in 2011, three students. [14] All were members of the award-winning Treble Makers.
The Hendrick Hudson Speech and Debate team hosts the annual Malcolm A. Bump Memorial Tournament, one of the largest debate tournaments in New York state. In 2005, the team was rated 13th overall in the country. [15]

Peekskill is a city in northwestern Westchester County, New York, United States, 35 miles (56 km) from New York City. Established as a village in 1816, it was incorporated as a city in 1940. It lies on a bay along the east side of the Hudson River, across from Jones Point in Rockland County. The population was 25,431 at the 2020 US census, an increase over 23,583 during the 2010 census. It is the third largest municipality in northern Westchester County, after the towns of Cortlandt and Yorktown.
David Conte is an American composer who has written over 150 works published by E.C. Schirmer, including six operas, a musical, works for chorus, solo voice, orchestra, chamber music, organ, piano, guitar, and harp. Conte has received commissions from Chanticleer, the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Harvard University Chorus, the Men’s Glee Clubs of Cornell University and the University of Notre Dame, GALA Choruses from the cities of San Francisco, New York, Boston, Atlanta, Seattle, and Washington, D.C., the Dayton Philharmonic, the Oakland Symphony, the Stockton Symphony, the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, the American Guild of Organists, Sonoma City Opera, and the Gerbode Foundation. He was honored with the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Brock Commission in 2007 for his work The Nine Muses, and in 2016 he won the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Art Song Composition Award for his work American Death Ballads.
Tottenville High School is located at 100 Luten Avenue, in Huguenot, Staten Island, New York. Tottenville H.S. is in Administrative District 31, and is operated by the New York City Department of Education. The school's principal is Gina Battista, who assumed the role in 2020.

Cortlandt Manor is a hamlet located in the Town of Cortlandt in northern Westchester County, New York, United States. Cortlandt Manor is situated directly east, north and south of Peekskill, and east of three sections of the Town of Cortlandt, Croton-on-Hudson, Crugers, and Montrose. Most of the area is made up of residential homes. Cortlandt Manor also encompasses Cortlandt Estates.
Montrose is a hamlet within the town of Cortlandt, in the northwestern corner of Westchester County, New York, United States. It is located near Croton-on-Hudson and Buchanan. The rural character of the hamlet is defined by the Hudson River, numerous wooded hills and steep slopes, wetland areas and beautiful streams. As of the 2010 census, Montrose had a population of 2,731.
Vestal High School is a public high school that operates as part of the Vestal Central School District which encompasses 57 square miles (150 km2) just west of Binghamton in the Southern Tier of New York. It is a four-year comprehensive school which annually receives both national and state recognition for excellence in education. The high school offers Varsity and Junior Varsity sports as well as musical opportunities in orchestra, band, and chorus. Clubs and student organizations accommodate a wide range of interests, from the physical sciences to martial arts. The mascot of Vestal High School is the Golden Bear named Bruin. Vestal High School holds an annual dance named after the mascot called the King Bruin dance, or KB. Unlike most high schools, Vestal High School does not have a Homecoming dance, but instead a football game and later in the year the King Bruin dance.

Steven Sametz is active as both conductor and composer. He has been hailed as "one of the most respected choral composers in America." Since 1979, he has been on the faculty of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he holds the Ronald J. Ulrich Chair in Music and is Director of Choral Activities and is founding director of the Lehigh University Choral Union. Since 1998, he has served as Artistic Director of the professional a cappella ensemble, The Princeton Singers. He is also the founding director of the Lehigh University Summer Choral Composers’ Forum. In 2012, he was named Chair of the American Choral Directors Association Composition Advisory Committee.
Daisy Jopling is a British classical/rock violinist and composer currently residing in New York. She tours the world with her own band, and has spearheaded a music mentorship foundation. She plays an Antonio Gragnani violin, made in Livorno, Italy in 1778 and a Yamaha electric violin. Jopling was the first international violinist to perform a major concert at the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt on 4 November 2022 produced by Red Amber Events, collaborating with Egyptian Stars Hany Adel, Wust El-Balad and Noha Fekry. She has released nine studio albums, two with BMG RCA Victor, and performed her own original show "Awakening" at Lincoln Center, NY.
Gerald Cohen is an American composer and cantor. He is currently the cantor at Shaarei Tikvah in Scarsdale, New York and is based in Yonkers. Cohen serves on the faculties of Jewish Theological Seminary and Hebrew Union College. Cohen's compositions are published by Oxford University Press, G. Schirmer/AMP, and Transcontinental Music Publications.
