You're Right, It's Time (originally announced as being titled Without Music the World Dies) is the upcoming fourteenth solo album by the English singer Morrissey. The album has missed three announced dates and remains unreleased.
Morrissey announced the tentative production and release of Without Music the World Dies on 8 December 2022. [1] [2] The album was recorded between January and February 2023 at La Fabrique Studios in St-Remy, France, and was produced by Joe Chiccarelli, making it his fifth collaboration with the singer. [3] The album was produced outside the bounds of a record contract, as Morrissey had parted ways with his former label Capitol Records in December 2022. [1] The album was initially scheduled to consist of twelve songs, which were collectively written by Morrissey and members of his band, although this was later reduced to ten songs.
On 20 February 2023, Morrissey announced that Without Music the World Dies had been completed. He then offered the album up to any record labels or private investors who were willing to distribute the finished album. [3] [4]
On 11 December 2024, in an interview with Fiona Dodwell, the following was stated: "As we approach the end of 2024, Morrissey's fans still await news on the as-yet unreleased albums he has recorded in recent years. "There are two albums, as you know," he explains. "The second one was re-recorded in France in late 2023, and given a new title. We scrapped half of the tracks and we recorded six new ones, and so it is not the album from the beginning of 2023." [5]
Morrissey confirmed in an interview with Teraz Rock , a Polish magazine, that the album has been renamed to You're Right, It's Time: "The second album will be released first. It's called You're Right, It's Time. Everyone who's heard it thinks it is Morrissey's best album yet. We recorded an Amazon Roxy Music track for it, which originally had Phil Manzanera playing an incredible guitar solo. We sent our version to Phil and he said it was phenomenal, especially the solo by Carmen Vandenberg. I'm thrilled with You're Right, It's Time. It's breathtaking from start to finish." [6]
In the same interview, You're Right, It's Time was said to be scheduled for release in September 2025. It remains unreleased.
On 8 March 2023, "The Night Pop Dropped" and "Without Music the World Dies" debuted live in Salle Pleyel, Paris. [7] "Notre-Dame" debuted live on 2 July 2023 in Israel. [8]
