Young Romance received a score of 65 out of 100 on review aggregator Metacritic based on six critics' reviews, indicating "generally favorable" reception. [3] Neil Z. Yeung of AllMusic described it as a "synth-driven exercise in retro-flavored indie dance rock. However, while its predecessor was a neon-washed, digital throbber, Young Romance expands Roosevelt's palette with bright, uplifting anthems similar to Miike Snow, Capital Cities, and Currents -era Tame Impala". [2] Exclaim! 's Luke Pearson wrote that Roosevelt "rais[es] the bar throughout in terms of production and overall tightness, while adding some funk-lite guitar work for good measure as well". [6]
Chase McMullen of The 405 summed it up as "a record that wears its influences plainly on its pulsating sleeves" and "more than pleasant enough to be worth it". [4] Tara Joshi of The Observer opined that the album contains "an airbrushed, off-kilter kind of pop, and while he still isn't pushing the envelope, Young Romance is a pleasant enough listen". [1] Reviewing the album for PopMatters , Pryor Stroud found that "Roosevelt's '80s-indebted yet EDM-inflected confections aren't as anthemic as he wants them to be, but they're almost uniformly infectious". [7] Jess Atkinson of Clash felt that Roosevelt "struggles to innovate" on the album "despite a truly lush display of synth-work and production". [5]

Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is the fourth studio album by French indie pop band Phoenix. It was released on 25 May 2009 by V2 Records. While the band's previous work enjoyed a moderate underground following, the release of Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix drew the attention of a more mainstream audience. In the US, Phoenix began a promotional tour including performances on several late night talk shows. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix continued to gain momentum with the increased exposure of the tour. The album received critical acclaim with many publications calling it one of the best albums of 2009. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix earned the band a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album at the 52nd Grammy Awards held on 31 January 2010.
There Are Rules is the fifth studio album by American rock band The Get Up Kids, the band's first studio album release since 2004's Guilt Show. After their initial reunion, the band decided to challenge themselves to write and record an album in only two weeks without using any digital technology. Ultimately, due to conflicting schedules, they dropped the two-week deadline and recorded over several months in 2009 and 2010. Much of the album was recorded in the same sessions as their first post-reunion release, Simple Science, the song "Keith Case" being featured on both.
Hyperbubble is an international visual and performing arts electropop/synth-pop duo from San Antonio, Texas, formed by Jeff DeCuir and Jess Barnett DeCuir. The music of this American group is variously described as "early Eurythmics meets Josie and the Pussycats," referencing "markers such as New Musik, the Normal and Thomas Dolby." Their songs are "catchy synth pop that mixes kitsch, retrofuturism and pop art in a chrome blender and sets the contents jiggling to a hypnotic robo-rhythm" with "lyrics that offer quirky takes on SF tropes from cyborgs and clones to ray guns and erotic surveillance."
"Afraid of the Dark" is a song released by American synthpop duo Young Ejecta, consisting of Leanne Macomber and Joel Ford, under the name Ejecta. Written by Macomber and produced by Ford, the song was released in September 2013 as the second single from the duo's debut studio album Dominae (2013). The four-minute track lyrically addresses "someone, broken by love, who is building up strength to protect themselves in future", as stated by Polari Magazine. It earned positive reviews from music critics upon release and was played on the show The Vampire Diaries. In 2014, the group performed the song at the fourth annual Gorilla vs. Bear festival.
"The Sound" is a song by English band the 1975 from their second studio album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It (2016). It was written by Matty Healy, George Daniel, Adam Hann and Ross MacDonald. Mike Crossey handled the production alongside Daniel and Healy. The London Community Gospel Choir provide the song's choir vocals. The song was released on 19 February 2016 by Dirty Hit and Polydor Records as the fourth single from the album. Inspired by the pop albums of his youth, Healy sought to channel the memorable melodies from them and create an "unabashed" pop song. Healy first presented the song to One Direction, who declined, so the band decided to record it.

Icarus Falls is a concept album influenced by Greek Mythology and Icarus, addressing themes such as self-love, finding yourself again as a person, and hope.
Sucker Punch is the debut studio album by Norwegian singer Sigrid, released on 8 March 2019 through Island Records. It follows the release of Sigrid's 2018 EP Raw. None of the songs featured on Raw were included on the album; however, two were included from Sigrid's debut EP Don't Kill My Vibe (2017). Peach Pit is an indie pop band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The band consists of singer and rhythm guitarist Neil Smith, lead guitarist Christopher Vanderkooy, bassist Peter Wilton, and drummer Mikey Pascuzzi. Lately they have been joined by multi-instrumentalist Dougal Bain McLean on synth, guitar, and fiddle. The band sported the same clothes for every live performance during their "Being So Normal" album phase after buying them for their first music video shoot.
