The Zimbabwe men's cricket team toured Namibia in October 2023 to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. [1] This was the first bilateral series between the two teams to be hosted in Namibia. [2] The only previous T20I series between the two sides was played in Zimbabwe in 2022. [3] The series formed part of both teams' preparations for the Africa World Cup Qualifier. [4]

After losing the opening game, [5] Sikandar Raza scored consecutive half centuries to help put Zimbabwe into a 2–1 series lead. [6] Namibia won the fourth T20I by 7 wickets to level the series at 2–2, ensuring that the series would be decided by the final match. [7] [8] Namibia won the deciding fifth T20I to seal the series 3–2.[ citation needed ] Having been bowled out for 101 in the first innings, the hosts made a comeback with the ball as they restricted Zimbabwe to a total of 93.[ citation needed ]

The 2019 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament held during October and November 2019 in the United Arab Emirates to determine the teams that would qualify for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The six teams finishing highest in the qualifier tournament joined Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the first group stage of the 2020 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The tournament formed part of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier series, with the Netherlands winning the final.

The 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier was the tournament played as part of qualification process for the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup.

The matches in the tournament were played as Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), with the top team progressing to both the 2019 ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier and the 2021 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournaments. Uganda won the previous Africa qualifier tournament, when it was held in Windhoek in 2017.

The Zimbabwe women's cricket team toured Namibia in January 2019 to play a five-match Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) series known as the Namib Desert Challenge. These were the first matches with WT20I status to be played by Zimbabwe after the International Cricket Council announced that all matches played between women's teams of Associate Members after 1 July 2018 would have full T20I status. The venue for all of the matches was the Sparta Cricket Club Ground in Walvis Bay. Zimbabwe won the series 5–0.

The Botswana cricket team toured Namibia in August 2019 to play a four-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series. The series was the first bilateral T20I series hosted in the country and provided Namibia with preparation for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier. The teams also played two friendly 50-over matches either side of the T20I series.

The 2022 ACA Africa T20 Cup was a cricket tournament played in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa. The finals tournament was originally scheduled to be held in September 2019, but was moved to March 2020, with the original host city being Nairobi, Kenya. On 9 March 2020, the tournament was postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the Kenyan government's 30-day ban on international gatherings. The tournament was eventually rescheduled for September 2022.

The 2019–20 Singapore Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament that was held from 27 September to 3 October 2019 in Singapore. It was a tri-nation series featuring Singapore, Nepal and Zimbabwe, with all the matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Singapore used the series as preparation for their first appearance in the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in October 2019. It was the first T20I tri-series to be played in Singapore.

The 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier was an international women's cricket tournament held in September 2022. It was the fifth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier and served as the qualification tournament for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup tournament. The top two teams from the qualifier tournament would progress to the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B was a cricket tournament that was played in July 2022 in Zimbabwe, as one of two global tournaments that together formed the final stage of the qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Global Qualifiers were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Global Qualifier B was contested by eight teams that advanced from their Regional Finals, were eliminated in the first round of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, or were one of the highest ranked sides not already qualified to this stage. The eight teams were placed in two groups, with two sides from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The two teams that reached the final of the Global Qualifier advanced to the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia.

The Afghanistan cricket team toured Zimbabwe in June 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. In April 2022, Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed the fixtures for the tour. The following month, the tour itinerary was changed slightly, bringing the matches forward by one week and reducing the number of T20Is from five to three.

The 2021 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier was a cricket tournament that was played in Botswana in September 2021. The matches were played as Twenty20 International (T20I) matches, with the top team progressing to the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament. Botswana, Cameroon and Eswatini made their debuts at an ICC women's event. Malawi were originally named as taking part in the tournament, but they were replaced by Eswatini.

The 2022 Capricorn Women's Tri-Series was a Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) cricket tournament that was held in Namibia in April 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Namibia, along with Uganda and Zimbabwe. The tournament consisted of a triple round-robin stage followed by a final between the top two teams. The series was the first as head coach of Zimbabwe Women for former international cricketer Gary Brent.

The Namibia cricket team toured Zimbabwe in May 2022 to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The matches were played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, and it was the first men's T20I series between Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The 2022 United Arab Emirates Women's Quadrangular Series was a women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) cricket tournament that was played in Dubai from 10 to 13 September 2022. The participants were the women's national sides of United Arab Emirates, Thailand, United States and Zimbabwe. The tournament provided all four teams with preparation for the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier.

The Zimbabwe women's cricket team toured Thailand in April 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. This was Zimbabwe's first tour to Thailand for a bilateral series. Originally the tour was to consist of just three T20Is, before being expanded to a series of 3 ODIs and 4 T20Is. However, after the completion of the first match of the T20I series, it was announced that the series would be reduced to three matches due to scheduling conflicts with the Southeast Asian Games cricket tournament.

The 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The first stage of the tournament was Division Two, which featured eight teams and was held in Botswana in September 2023.

The Uganda men's cricket team toured Namibia in July 2023 to play four Twenty20 matches and two 50-over matches. All matches were played at the United Ground in Windhoek. This was the third consecutive year in which Uganda had toured Namibia, following similar bilateral series in April 2021 and April 2022. The series provided both sides with an opportunity to continue their preparations for the T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in November 2023.

The Zimbabwe cricket team toured Sri Lanka in January 2024 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The T20I series was part of Sri Lanka's preparation for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament.

The Ireland women's cricket team toured Zimbabwe in January and February 2024 to play the Zimbabwe women's cricket team. The tour consisted of three One Day International (ODI) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The T20I matches formed part of both teams' preparations for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier.
