Zziwa Kennedy Katebalirwe (born 19 May 1987) is a professional Ugandan celebrity hair stylist and dresser. [1] He is the CEO of Hair by Zziwa, a hair studio in Uganda. [2]

Early life

Zziwa Kennedy was born on 19 May 1987 in Ibanda, Wakiso district. He attended Kampala Nursery School (1991–1993), Buganda Road P/S (1994–2000), and Lubiri S.S. At Makerere University, he attained a bachelor's degree in Computer Science (2007–2011). [3]

Career

In 1998, Kennedy started acting with the Ebonies drama actors. He featured in many of the popular group's TV series including Diamond ring, Bibawo, and That’s Life Mwatu, Kitobero Alacat. [4]

His work in the hairdressing industry started in 2010, when he enrolled at the Tina Bchool of beauty in Kampala. [5] After a short stint at the school, he went on to open his first salon, a makeshift structure, in Gayaza. This was opened using a little savings from his college days. [6]

In October 2015, Kennedy started the Hair by Zziwa studio, a hair and nail clinic based at Krisna Mart mall, Kampala. [7] [8]

In Uganda, he has worked with major celebrities and public figures, including Winnie Byanyima, [9] Iryn Namubiru, Judith Heard, Jose Chameleone, Bebecool, Leila Kayondo, Brian Ahumuza, Kim Swagga, South African Designer David Tlale, Ghana's Deborah Vanessa, Miss Vimbai, Juliana Kanyomozi, [10] Vera Sidika, Deedan Rema Namakula, Princess Nassolo of Buganda, Nancy Kacungira and Seanice Kacungira.

He has launched a line of human hair extensions and hair growth accelerator products.

Recognitions

Kennedy has received numerous recognitions and awards both in Uganda and abroad. He has appeared in Beijing Kids magazine. His awards include the following: Best Urban hairstylist in Beijing (2015), Best African Hairstylist (2013), and Hairstylist of the Year (ASFAS 2016). [11]

Warren Kizza Besigye Kifefe, known as Colonel Dr. Kizza Besigye, is a Ugandan physician, politician, and former military officer of the Uganda People's Defence Force. He served as the president of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) political party and was an unsuccessful candidate in Uganda's 2001, 2006, 2011, and 2016 presidential elections, losing all of them to the incumbent, Yoweri Museveni, who has been president of Uganda since 26 January 1986. The results of the 2006 elections were contested in court, and the court found massive rigging and disenfranchisement. Besigye allowed an early internal FDC election for a successor president, which took place on 24 November 2012.

Blow Out is a reality television series that first premiered on the Bravo cable television network in 2004, with a second season broadcasting in 2005. The first season revolved around the construction and launch of Jonathan Salon in Beverly Hills, an upscale Los Angeles hair salon. The second season showed the ongoing business ventures of now celebrity hair stylist Jonathan Antin, including the management of his (two) salons and the launch of his own hair styling product. A third season premiered on March 21, 2006. Season 3 chronicled Jonathan's product launch and growing popularity in the fashion industry.

Margaret Nantongo Zziwa is a Ugandan politician and legislator. She served as the Speaker of the 3rd East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in Arusha, Tanzania. James Albert Markham is an American hair stylist and serial entrepreneur, who has founded four hair care companies– Markham Products, ABBA Pure and Natural, PureOlogy Serious Colour Care, and, most recently, ColorProof Color Care Authority. He was also celebrity stylist Jay Sebring's protege and successor of Sebring International after Sebring was murdered by the Manson Family. The Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards 2016 is the fourth edition of the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards and it was held on 9 December 2016 at the Kampala Serena Hotel under the theme Dress to Inspire. Vimbai Mutinhiri and Idris Sultan hosted the awarding event while Hellen Lukoma and Zimbabwe's Tinashe Venge hosted the red carpet event.

Santa Anzo is a Ugandan model, fashionista, fashion designer and businesswoman, who is the founder, chief fashion designer and managing director of Arapapa Fashion House, based in Kampala, Uganda's capital city. She is also the founder and President of Uganda International Fashion Week, an annual fashion exhibition.

Abbas Kaijuka is a Ugandan fashion designer, stylist and fashion collector known for his brand Kai's Divo. He is a recipient of the East Africa’s Male Fashion Designer of the Year award at the 2020 East Africa Fashion Awards and the Fashion Designer of the Year award at the 2016 Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards and received various nominations including the East African Designer of the year award at the 2017 Swahili Fashion Week.
