The Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards 2016 is the fourth edition of the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards and it was held on 9 December 2016 at the Kampala Serena Hotel [1] under the theme Dress to Inspire. Vimbai Mutinhiri and Idris Sultan hosted the awarding event while Hellen Lukoma and Zimbabwe's Tinashe Venge hosted the red carpet event. [2]

Contents

This edition was the first to nominate and award continental fashion stakeholders as all the previous editions only nominated and awarded East Africans. The continental launch was held in Namibia at the Windhoek Fashion Week. [3]

Nominations were open to the public on 5 September 2016 [4] and the nominees were unveiled on 27 October 2016 [5] at a media launch at Kampala Serena Hotel. [6]

Acts and showcases

Ugandan artiste Ceaserous performed his hit single Dangerous. Kenya's Avril [7] and Nigeria's Runtown also performed on the awarding stage [8] while Bebe Cool performed at the red carpet event.

Anita Beryl, the winner for Fashion Designer of the year (Uganda) showcased her designer collection. Other showcases were by David Tlale, the highlight showcase of the night [9] [10] and swim model Nina Mirembe who showcased her collection of handmade bikini wear. [11]

Housen Mushema is a Ugandan runway, commercial and editorial model, actor and fashion producer known for playing the lead role of Balikoowa in Balikoowa in the City, Sokke on The Hostel, Andrew on Second Chance, Ben Ssali on Power of Legacy, Ian on Mistakes Girls Do, Michael on Veronica's Wish, Anthony on Bed of Thorns and also had roles on other shows and films like November Tear, False Dreams and The Lukkas.

The Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards 2017 was held on 8 December 2017 at the Kampala Serena Hotel themed the Fashion Takeover, celebrating the business and entrepreneurial potential of the fashion industry in Africa. The awards were presented by the Abryanz franchise with the aim of honoring and celebrating the excellence of Africa's growing fashion industry. The event was hosted by Rachel K and Nana Akua and produced by South Africas's David Tlale.

Anita Beryl is a Ugandan Fashion Designer, Couturier and Entrepreneur. She is the creative director of Beryl Qouture, a Ugandan fashion house. The Ugandan magazine, Satisfashion Uganda, named Beryl one of "The 40 Movers and Shakers of 2016", in December 2016.

Stellah Nantumbwe also Stella Nantumbwe commonly known as Ellah is a Ugandan actress, media personality and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Uganda 2013. She was Uganda's representative to the Big Brother Africa, in 2014.

Santa Anzo is a Ugandan model, fashionista, fashion designer and businesswoman, who is the founder, chief fashion designer and managing director of Arapapa Fashion House, based in Kampala, Uganda's capital city. She is also the founder and President of Uganda International Fashion Week, an annual fashion exhibition.

<i>Bed of Thorns</i> Ugandan drama film

Bed of Thorns (#Tosirika) is a Ugandan, all-female crew produced drama film directed by Eleanor Nabwiso and produced at Nabwiso Films. The film addresses the issue of gender based and domestic violence. It stars media personality Malaika Tenshi Nnyanzi, Diana Kahunde, youtuber and social media comedian Martha Kay, Agnes Kebirungi, Michael Wawuyo Jr., Housen Mushema, Sara Kisawuzi and Patrick Salvador Idringi. The film premiered on 30 March 2019 at a red carpet event at Century Cinema Kamwokya, Kampala.

Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards 2019, themed The Stars, was the seventh edition of the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) that honored stars in the fashion industry in Africa. It was held on 13 December 2019 at the Kampala Serena Hotel in Kampala.

Abbas Kaijuka is a Ugandan fashion designer, stylist and fashion collector known for his brand Kai's Divo. Joram Muzira alias Muzira Joram Job(born in 1987) is a Ugandan Fashion entrepreneur, model scout and coach, show director, voice over artist, and a TV personality. He founded JMM that signed international models that include Aamito stacie Lagum and Patricia Akello.
