The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council elections were held on Thursday, 4 May 2000, with one third of the council up for election. Labour lost control of the council to no overall control. [1] [2]

City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council elections are held three years out of every four to elect members to City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council in West Yorkshire, England. Since the last boundary changes in 2004 the council has comprised 90 councillors representing 30 wards, with each ward electing three councillors.

One third of Harrogate Borough Council in North Yorkshire, England was elected each year, followed by one year without election. Since the last boundary changes in 2002, 54 councillors had been elected from 35 wards. The last elections were held in 2018, ahead of the abolition of Harrogate Borough Council on 31 March 2023. Its functions transferred to the new North Yorkshire Council. The first elections to the North Yorkshire Council took place on 5 May 2022, when 21 councillors were elected from 21 divisions in the Borough of Harrogate.

One third of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in Hampshire, England is elected each year, followed by one year without election. Since the last boundary changes in 2021, 54 councillors have been elected from 18 wards.

The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council elections were held on Thursday, 7 May 1998, with one third of the council up for election. Since the previous election there had been a number of by-elections resulting in two Labour defenses and a Conservative gain in Heaton, due to be defended at this election. Labour retained control of the council.

Elections to Manchester Council were held on Thursday, 7 May 1998. One third of the council was up for election, with each successful candidate to serve a four-year term of office, expiring in 2002. A vacancy each in Ardwick and Harpurhey were also being contested. There were two Labour candidates for Barlow Moor ward, the result of de-selected Labour Councillor Arthur Maloney securing an official Labour Party nomination before he was replaced by a new candidate. The Independent Labour candidates stood as Labour Peace 2000. Overall turnout was 20.5%, with Labour retaining control of the council.

Plymouth City Council is the local authority for the a unitary authority of Plymouth in Devon, England. Until 1 April 1998 it was a non-metropolitan district.

Medway Council is the local authority for the unitary authority of Medway in Kent, England. It was created on 1 April 1998 replacing Gillingham and Rochester-upon-Medway.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is the local authority for the unitary authority of Redcar and Cleveland in North Yorkshire, England. Until 1 April 1996 it was a non-metropolitan district in Cleveland, called Langbaurgh.

Prior to the election, the Liberal Democrats had gained a seat in Bramley from Labour, and Hunslet councillor, Mark Davies, had defected from Labour to Independent Socialist.

One third of the council was up for election and the Labour party stayed in overall control of the council. Overall turnout in the election was 27.5%.

One third of the council was up for election, as well as a vacancy in Chorlton, with each successful candidate to serve a four-year term of office, expiring in 2003. The two Independent Labour candidates stood as "Peace 2000 England's Republic", a slight alteration on the previous year's "Labour Peace 2000". Overall turnout was up marginally from the previous year at 21.9%. The Labour Party retained overall control of the Council.
