The 2003 Dallas mayoral election took place on May 3, 2003, to elect the mayor of Dallas, Texas. The race was officially nonpartisan. It saw the reelection of Laura Miller, who won the election by taking a majority in the initial round of voting, thereby negating the need for a runoff to be held.

Dallas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the most populous city in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States at 7.5 million people. It is the most populous city in and seat of Dallas County with portions extending into Collin, Denton, Kaufman, and Rockwall counties. DeSoto is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States. DeSoto is a suburb of Dallas and is part of the Best Southwest area, which includes DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, and Lancaster.

Laura Miller is an American journalist and politician who served as the 58th mayor of Dallas, Texas from 2002 through 2007. She decided not to run for re-election in 2007. She was the third woman to serve as mayor of Dallas.
Robert Nance Cluck, Jr. is an American obstetrician-gynecologist and politician. He was elected to the office of Mayor of the City of Arlington in May 2003 after serving two terms on the city council. He represented Council District 4. On May 9, 2015, Cluck was defeated by Jeff Williams, who is now mayor of the City of Arlington.

He had oversight of the company's operating divisions until his resignation was announced in July 2015. Leppert, a member of the Republican Party, previously served as the 59th mayor of Dallas, Texas from 2007 to 2011 and was unsuccessful candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2012.

Dallas also concurrently elected all 14 members of its city council, and 3 of the 9 total members of the Dallas Independent School District. Johnson won the runoff with 55.61%.

The 2021 Fort Worth mayoral election was held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, to decide the mayor of Fort Worth, Texas. Incumbent mayor Betsy Price, who had served as the city's mayor since 2011, announced on January 6, 2021, that she would not seek a sixth term. Ten candidates ran in the primary election. Early voting in person began on April 19, 2021. Since no candidate received a majority of the vote on May 1, the top two finishers, Democrat Deborah Peoples and Republican Mattie Parker, advanced to a June 5, 2021, runoff election. Parker won the runoff and was elected mayor.

One other candidate qualified, declared write-in candidate Kendal Richardson, whom Johnson defeated with 98.7% of the vote, breaking a record set in 1909 by former Dallas mayor Stephen J. Hay for the highest vote percentage garnered by a mayoral candidate facing any opposition in Dallas history.
