BEDEO (formerly known as BD Auto) is a British electric vehicle supplier and manufacturer. Founded by Osman Boyner in Turkey in 2009, BEDEO is focused on the production of pure electric lightweight commercial vehicles and passenger models and has more than 400 vehicles in operation in seven European countries such as Denmark, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Italy. History

BEDEO was founded in Turkey in 2009 by Osman Boyner. In 2011, Turkish shipping company Aras Kargo decided to include electric vehicles in their fleet. After an initial trial, Aras Kargo added an extra 30 vehicles to their fleet in 2014, making it Turkey's largest fleet of fully electric commercial vehicles. [3]

In 2015, BEDEO went on to partner with TNT in the Netherlands, and also formed partnerships with DHL and FedEx. [4]

BEDEO began offering its range of electric vans in the UK in 2017, with UK supermarket Ocado acquiring 15 Fiat chassis from BEDEO in 2018. [5]

Groupe PSA announced it would be supplying and installing BEDEO electric drivetrain solutions to a selection of their light commercial vehicle models, including refrigerated delivery trucks. [6] [7]

Vehicles

BEDEO uses base vehicles from major OEMs – ranging from 3–4.25 tonnes GVW – converted to electric-only operation, with the 62kwh battery stored under the chassis and the interior modified with a meter showing ‘state of charge’ and range. Working range is around 100 miles for the smaller van and 125 miles for the larger one, based on the company's own real-world tests with a half payload. [8]

BD Auto offers two models, a smaller BD e-Trafic and a larger BD e-Ducato. [8]

Vans are eligible for the government's Plug-in Van Grant, are also exempt from paying London's congestion charge and ULEZ charge. [9]

The PSA Group, legally known as Peugeot S.A. was a French multinational automotive manufacturing company which produced automobiles and motorcycles under the Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel and Vauxhall brands. On 18 December 2019, PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) announced that they had agreed to the terms of a binding $50 billion merger. On 16 July 2020, both companies announced the new name for their merged operations, Stellantis. The deal closed on 16 January 2021. As of 2022, Stellantis is fourth largest automaker by sales behind Toyota, Volkswagen Group, and Hyundai Motor Group.

The Fiat Ducato is a light commercial vehicle jointly developed by FCA Italy and PSA Group, and mainly manufactured by Sevel, a joint venture between the two companies since 1981. It has also been sold as the Citroën C25, Peugeot J5, Alfa Romeo AR6 and Talbot Express and later as the Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper, and Peugeot Boxer, from 1994 onwards. It entered the North American market as the Ram ProMaster in May 2014 for the 2015 model year.

The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is a five-door electric kei car produced in the 2010s by Mitsubishi Motors, and is the electric version of the Mitsubishi i. Rebadged variants of the i-MiEV are also sold by PSA as the Peugeot iOn and Citroën C-Zero, mainly in Europe. The i-MiEV was the world's first modern highway-capable mass production electric car.

Sevel S.p.A. is an Italian automotive company which produces light commercial vehicles. It was first established in 1978 by Fiat S.p.A. and PSA Group. Formerly, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Talbot were also part of the joint venture. Sevel Sud in Italy began manufacturing in 1981. Sevel Nord in France started in 1993. Fiat sold its share of Sevel Nord to PSA in 2012 and re-entered it through the merger of FCA and PSA into Stellantis in 2021. A joint venture extension for Sevel Sud was agreed upon by both automakers in February 2019, preceding the merger of both companies into Stellantis.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Citroën C-Zero</span> French car model

The Citroën C-ZERO is a supermini/city car produced by Citroën and is 100% electric powered. It was developed in collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC). Its sister was marketed by Peugeot as the Peugeot iOn. The changes between the cars are the different exterior and interior styling and the price. The C-Zero was sold until 2020, when it was replaced by the Ami.

Opel Manufacturing Poland Sp. z o.o. is an automobile manufacturer in Poland. It assembles light commercial vehicles in a factory in Gliwice and builds engines in Tychy. Opel Manufacturing Poland is a subsidiary of Opel Automobile GmbH in Rüsselsheim, Germany which in turn is a subsidiary of Stellantis.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Common Modular Platform</span> Motor vehicle platform

Common Modular Platform (CMP) is a modular car platform which is jointly developed and used by French car manufacturer PSA Group and Chinese car manufacturer Dongfeng. Debuted in 2018 with the release of the DS 3, the platform is mainly used by B-segment vehicles along with some entry level C-segment vehicles. For larger cars from the C-segment above, PSA/Stellantis uses the Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2).
