Caparo Vehicle Technologies (CVT), formerly known as Freestream Cars Limited, was a British company that provided advanced technology development, materials engineering, and design services to and markets. [2] Caparo Vehicle Technologies went into administration in 2015, and was fully dissolved by 2019.

History

Caparo Vehicle Technologies was originally founded in 2004 as Freestream Cars Limited by Graham Halstead and Ben Scott-Geddes who had both worked on the McLaren F1 project. [3] In February 2006, Freestream announced a concept car, the Freestream T1. [4] [5] In March 2006, the company was acquired by Caparo. The deal was put together by future Commercial Director, Sean Butcher. [6] [7] After the acquisition, Caparo CEO Angad Paul became chairman. [8]

Vehicles

Caparo Vehicle Technologies produced one vehicle, the Caparo T1. The T1 is a two seat, rear wheel drive automobile inspired by Formula 1 racecars. [9] The company sold 15 cars by 2012. [10]

Administration and closure

The company entered administration in 2015 just days after the death of Caparo CEO, Angad Paul. [11] [12] [13] The company was liquidated and fully dissolved by 2019. [14]

Swraj Paul, Baron Paul, PC is an Indian-born, British-based business magnate and philanthropist. In 1996 he was appointed a life peer by Conservative Prime Minister John Major, and sits in the House of Lords as a crossbencher with the title Baron Paul, of Marylebone, in the City of Westminster. Caparo T1 Motor vehicle

The Caparo T1 is a British mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-seat automobile that was built by Caparo Vehicle Technologies, founded by design director Ben Scott-Geddes, engineering director Graham Halstead, engineers formerly involved in the development of the McLaren F1 and Sean Butcher, marketing director and financier. The T1 was inspired by Formula One design, and intended as a relatively affordable road legal racing car. The T1 was scheduled for production in mid-2007 for a price of GB£235,000 with approximately 25 cars per year built.

The company had offices at Pinewood Studios and produced content for the TV channel as well as programmes for international TV, the Internet and mobile distribution. Before its sale in 2010, the channel averaged around a million viewers a week.

The Caparo T1 engine is a 3.5-liter, naturally-aspirated, V-8 racing engine, designed, developed, and made by Menard, and used in the Caparo T1 sports car, between 2006 and 2015. The engine itself is derived from the Nissan/Infiniti IndyCar engine, only slightly detuned.
