Minsara Kanavu is a 1997 Indian Tamil-language musical romantic drama film that was co-written and directed by Rajiv Menon. The film stars Arvind Swamy, Prabhu Deva, and Kajol in her Tamil debut, and revolves around Priya (Kajol), a convent student who wants to become a nun. Having returned to India from his studies overseas, Thomas (Swamy)—Priya's childhood friend—falls in love with her following their first meeting at her convent. With the help of hairstylist Deva, who is known for his ability to change woman's minds, Thomas tries to dissuade Priya from her ambition but both of them fall in love with her.

Raja Hindustani is a 1996 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Dharmesh Darshan. It tells the story of a cab driver from a small town who falls in love with a rich young woman. Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor play the lead roles. Released on 15 November 1996, the film's plot was inspired from the 1965 film Jab Jab Phool Khile, starring Shashi Kapoor and Nanda. The film's music was composed by Nadeem-Shravan, with lyrics by Sameer. It went on to win five Filmfare Awards, including the awards for Best Film and Best Actors, and seven Screen Awards.

Humraaz (transl.Confidant) is a 2002 Indian Hindi-language musical romantic thriller film directed by the duo Abbas-Mustan. It stars Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna and Amisha Patel. The film is inspired from the 1998 movie A Perfect Murder. The film was an inspiration for the 2018 Bengali movie Tui Sudhu Amaar starring Soham Chakraborty, Om and Mahiya Mahi in lead roles. It was remade in Tamil as Girivalam.

Naan Adimai Illai is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Dwarakish. The film stars Rajinikanth and Sridevi. This was the last Tamil film for Sridevi in 1980s who then concentrated on her Bollywood career, though she would later return to Tamil cinema in the 2010s. Naan Adimai Illai ran for 75 days in all major cities and was a disaster at the box office. The film was a remake of the Hindi film Pyar Jhukta Nahin (1985).

Unnai Vaazhthi Paadukiren is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language romance film directed by Shridev. The film stars Parthiban, Suman Ranganathan and Mohini. The film, produced by T. P. Kovai Thampi, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 7 February 1992.

Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven is a Tamil-language action comedy film directed by Sundar C. and produced by Lyca Productions. A remake of the Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi (2013), the film stars Silambarasan, Ramya Krishnan, Prabhu, Nassar, Megha Akash, and Catherine Tresa, with Mahat Raghavendra and Yogi Babu, among others, in supporting roles. Hiphop Tamizha composes the film's music. The title of the film is taken from a famous dialogue by Silambarasan in the film Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018).
