War of 1812: The Pallas-class frigate, which had been captured on 29 December 1812 by USS Constitution (Flag of the United States (1795-1818).svg  United States Navy), was set afire, exploded, and sank in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Brazil.

NevaFlag of Russia.svg  Russia During a voyage from Okhotsk in the Russian Empire to Novo-Arkhangelsk in Russian America carrying 77 people and a cargo of bronze guns, furs, and gold church vestments, the 370-ton ship was wrecked when she struck a rock in a bay – later named Neva Bay ( 57°09′N134°17′W / 57.150°N 134.283°W / 57.150; -134.283 (Neva Bay) ) – on the coast of Kruzof Island in the Alexander Archipelago in what is now Southeast Alaska. Forty-nine of those on board perished. [13]
