Clark Field, originally known as Varsity Athletic Field, was a stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Clark Field hosted the Texas Longhorns football and track teams until they moved to the newly constructed Memorial Stadium in 1924. Howard Clifford "Bully" Gilstrap was a college men's basketball and college football coach. He was the head coach of the Texas basketball program from 1942 to 1945. He coached the Longhorns to a 43–28 record, playing in one NCAA tournament and reaching the NCAA Final Four in 1943. Gilstrap also served as an assistant coach on the Longhorns football team for 20 seasons, from 1937 through 1956. He was an athlete at Texas, playing football, basketball and track and field. He was inducted into the University of Texas Athletics Hall of Honor in 1968. Bully Gilstrap was a brother to Chena Gilstrap.

The 2017 Texas Longhorns football team, known variously as "Texas", "UT", the "Longhorns", or the "Horns", was a collegiate American football team representing the University of Texas at Austin as a member of the Big 12 Conference in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season; the 2017 team was the 125th to represent the university in college football.
