Nepali Cinema, also referred to as "Nepali Chalachitra" is the filmmaking industry in Nepal. This includes films in various languages of Nepal, most notably in Nepali language but also in Newari, Maithili, Tamang, Bhojpuri and Tharu among others. The term Cinemandu is also used, as a portmanteau for films produced in the Nepali language while the Nepalese films produced from Kathmandu and Janakpur in the Maithili language is known as Mithilawood. Both of these film industries are the largest viewing cinema of Nepal and are collectively known as Nepali Cinema. Purna Banadhur ko Sarangi is the highest Grossing Nepali Cinema released in 31 October 2024 with box office collection of NRS 73 Crore worldwide.

Kagbeni is a 2008 Nepali movie, loosely based on W. W. Jacobs's 1902 horror short story The Monkey's Paw. Kagbeni is the directorial debut of Bhusan Dahal. The name of the movie is taken from a tourist place Kagbeni in the valley of the Kali Gandaki, which is a two-hour trek from Muktinath. Kagbeni is considered to be a movie which changed the way people look at Nepali cinema, because it is seen as the first successful non-commercial movie in Nepal which was able to leave its mark in the film industry. Nepali critics now often describe non-commercial movies as 'post- Kagbeni era films'. Kagbeni was one of the few Nepali films during its time to manifest cinematography as one of the important elements in cinema.

Deeya Maskey or Diya Maskey is a Nepalese movie actress, dancer, theater artist and a theatre director. She is also well known as popular judge/gang leader on TV reality show Himalaya Roadies. She debuted on Nepalese film Kagbeni which was directed by one of the most influential director of Nepali film industry Bhusan Dahal. It is said that the movie had brought Nepali movie industry to some new milestone. She was also awarded with the national award by NIFF as "Best actress of 2022" for her role in movie Prakash. She has also worked in theatrical plays and dramas marked her debut as a theater director from the play "Katha Kasturi" in 2022.

Sonu Chandrapal is an Indian television actress. She made her acting debut with Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna portraying Nisha in 2013. Chandrapal is best known for her role as Ragini Saurabh Birla in Suhani Si Ek Ladkiand Goddess Saraswati in Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran. She had previously acted in Gujarati and South Indian films.
Hostel Returns is a sequel to the 2013 Nepali film Hostel and is based on the hostel life of typical engineering students in Nepal. Directed by Suraj Bhusal and produced by Mr Sunil Rawal, Sunil himself plays the role of Hostel Warden in the movie. In addition, young actors and actresses viz Sushil Shrestha (Pratap), Sashi Shrestha (Seema), Nazir Hussain (Rameshwor), Swostima Khadka (Elina) etc. are starred in the movie.
"Melancholy" is an environmentally-themed song sung by 365 Nepali artists. This song was intended to promote an environmental message by breaking the Guinness World Records for "Most Vocal Solos in a Song Recording", which it successfully did. It was written, music composed and directed by environmentalist Nipesh Dhaka. The song was recorded as a single on 19 May 2016. The recording sessions were inaugurated by Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli at 8 am and continued until 6 pm. The song was released on 2 September 2017 by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Army Officer's Club, Kathmandu.
Captain is a 2019 Nepalese sports drama film directed by Diwakar Bhattarai, written by Samipya Raj Timalsena, Diwakar Bhattarai, Sagar Kharel, Brajesh Khanal and produced by Bhuwan K.C. and Jiya K.C. under the banner of Super Kajal Films. It stars Anmol K.C., with Sunil Thapa, Saroj Khanal, Wilson Bikram Rai, Upasana Singh Thakuri, Priyanka Mv, and Prashant Tamrakar. The film, which follows a teenager who struggles to follow his father's footsteps in football, was filmed across Jhapa and Ilam. It was released in Nepal on 1 March 2019. It received largely unfavourable reviews from critics for its storyline, visual special effects, and lead performances, and a mixed response from audiences. It grossed below average at the box office and ended its run after its second weekend.
Balidaan (Sacrifice) is a 1997 Nepali historical drama film, directed by Tulsi Ghimire, and written by Modanath Prasrit. It was produced by Shyam Sapkota under the banner of Cinema Nepal. Widely regarded as one of the greatest movie of all time in the history of Nepalese Cinema, The film is set in Panchayat-era Nepal, and depicts a fictionalised version of the contemporary democracy movement. It features Hari Bansha Acharya in the lead role, alongside Anjali Lama, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Shanti Maskey, Keshav Bhattarai, Laxmi Giri and Neer Shah. The film was a critical and commercial success during the time of its release.
Prakash is a 2022 Nepali film directed by Dinesh Raut under the banner of Binish Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The film was released on August 26, 2022. The story is based on the life of a man from rural Nepal who dreams of becoming a school teacher. Entire filming was done in Jumla. The film stars Pradeep Khadka, Deeya Maskey, and Renu Yogi, who made her debut through this film. Prakash was made on a budget of around 2.5 crore Nepalese rupees, which makes it one of the most expensive Nepali films.
Prem Geet 3 is a 2022 Nepali language film, also dubbed & released in Hindi over Nepal & India, directed by Chhetan Gurung and Santosh Sen under the banner of Aasusen Films Production (Nepal), Reltic Pictures (India) and Sparkling Studio (India). It is the first Indo-Nepali film; the first film to be released in both Nepali and Hindi simultaneously. It was expected to be released in 80 to 90 countries and in 500 to 1,000 cinema halls in India. Sen made his directorial debut through this film. The film was released on September 23, 2022. The majority of the filming took place in upper Manang with the remaining taking place on sets built in Kritipur. The film features Pradeep Khadka, Kristina Gurung, Shiva Shrestha, and Sunil Thapa in lead role. Gurung made her debut through this film; she was selected after outperforming the other 27,013 participants at the audition.
