The 1874 City of Durham by-election was fought on 13 June 1874. The by-election was fought due to the voiding of the incumbent Liberal MPs, Thomas Charles Thompson's and John Henderson elections. It was retained by the Liberal candidates Farrer Herschell. [1] and Arthur Monck.
