Dunfermline Athletic Football Club is a Scottish professional football club based in the city of Dunfermline, Fife. Founded in 1885, the club currently compete in the Scottish Championship after winning the 2022–23 Scottish League One title. Dunfermline play at East End Park, are nicknamed The Pars and are currently managed by James McPake.

John Stein was a Scottish football player and manager. He was the first manager of a British side to win the European Cup, with Celtic in 1967. Stein also guided Celtic to nine successive Scottish League championships between 1966 and 1974.

Martin McLean Buchan is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a centre back. Born in Aberdeen, he played for Aberdeen, Manchester United and Oldham Athletic. He also played in 34 international matches for Scotland between 1971 and 1978 including at two World Cups. Buchan later managed Burnley.

John Martin Bokas Wallace was a Scottish professional footballer and manager. Wallace played as a goalkeeper, and has the unique distinction of being the only player ever to play in the English, Welsh and Scottish Cups in the same season; this was set during the 1966–67 season where he played in the FA Cup and Welsh Cup for Hereford United, and in the Scottish Cup when he moved to Berwick Rangers.

Robert Fleming Blyth Shankly was a Scottish professional football player and manager. He was an elder brother of Bill Shankly, the former Liverpool manager.

John Shaw was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a defender, most famous for his time at Rangers, where he was captain between 1938 and 1950.

Edwin George Ditchburn was an English professional football goalkeeper who played for Northfleet United, Tottenham Hotspur, Romford, Brentwood Town and represented England on six occasions at international level.

Alistair John Dawson was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a defender. He spent most of his career at Rangers.

John White was a Scottish footballer who played as a forward. He played for Albion Rovers and Heart of Midlothian in his native country, and Leeds United in England. While at Hearts, in 1926 he achieved the highly unusual feat of scoring four goals in three successive matches.

Phillip Bonnyman is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder for Anniesland Waverley, Rangers, Hamilton Academical, Carlisle United, Chesterfield, Grimsby Town, Stoke City, Darlington and Dunfermline Athletic. He won the Anglo-Scottish Cup with Chesterfield in 1981. During his time in England, he scored 84 goals in 543 league and cup appearances. He later coached at Dunfermline Athletic, Hamilton Academical and Port Vale, and had two spells as manager at Highland League side Huntly.

John Walker was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a left back and is perhaps best remembered for his six seasons in the Southern League with Swindon Town. He also played in the Scottish League for Raith Rovers, Rangers and Cowdenbeath and in the Football League for Middlesbrough and Reading. Although convicted of sexual assault and imprisoned in 1917, he was able to resume his career upon being released. After retiring from football he ran a fish-and-chip shop in Swindon.

John Hurst Ditchburn was an English professional footballer who played as a wing half in the Football League for Sunderland and Exeter City. He was born in Leeds and settled in Exeter, but had spent most of his childhood in Cambuslang, Scotland and began his career with local clubs.
