The 30th running of the Tour of Flanders cycling classic was held on Sunday, 14 April 1946. [1] 21-year old Rik van Steenbergen, who also won the 1944 edition, arrived solo. Of the 219 starting cyclists, 37 reached the finish. [2]
The race started in Ghent and finished in Wetteren – totaling 246 km (152 miles). [3] Winner Van Steenbergen completed the course with an average of 35,9 km/h. [4]

The Tour of Flanders, also known as De Ronde, is an annual road cycling race held in Belgium every spring. The most important cycling race in Flanders, it is part of the UCI World Tour and organized by Flanders Classics. Its nickname is Vlaanderens Mooiste. First held in 1913, the Tour of Flanders had its 100th edition in 2016.
Marcel Kint was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer who won 31 races between 1935 and 1951. His finest year was 1938 when he won the World Cycling Championship, three stages of the Tour de France and the season-long competition equivalent to today's UCI ProTour.
Dwars door Vlaanderen(English: Across Flanders) is a semi-classic road bicycle race in Belgium, held annually since 1945. The race starts in Roeselare and finishes in Waregem, both in West Flanders. Since 2017 the event is included in the UCI World Tour.
