The Tour of Flanders, also known as De Ronde, is an annual road cycling race held in Belgium every spring. Achiel Buysse (1918–1984) was a Belgian cyclist. He was born on 20 December 1918 at Lochristi, Belgium and died on 23 July 1984 at Wetteren, Belgium. He was a professional cyclist from 1938 to 1950. He is the father-in-law of Michel Vaarten, and the grandfather of Pascal Elaut and Luc Colyn who were also racing cyclists.

The 69th running of the Tour of Flanders cycling race took place on 7 April 1985. It was won by Belgian Eric Vanderaerden in an average speed of 39,605 km/h. The race was affected by abysmal weather, when a storm accompanied by wind and torrential rainfall, broke in the afternoon. Only 24 of 173 participants arrived.

The 57th running of the Tour of Flanders cycling race in Belgium was held on Sunday 1 April 1973. Belgian Eric Leman won the classic ahead of Freddy Maertens and Eddy Merckx. The race started in Ghent and finished for the first time in Meerbeke (Ninove). 37 out of 174 riders arrived.

The 82nd running of the Tour of Flanders cycling race in Belgium was held on Sunday 5 April 1998. Belgian Johan Museeuw won his third victory in the monument classic. The race started in Bruges for the first time and finished in Meerbeke (Ninove).

The 40th running of the Tour of Flanders cycling classic was held on Easter Monday, 2 April 1956. French rider Jean Forestier won the race after a late breakaway from a 30-strong group in Wetteren. Sprint specialist Stan Ockers won the sprint for second place; Leon Van Daele was third. 37 of 122 riders finished.

The second running of the Tour of Flanders cycling race in Belgium was held on Sunday, 22 March 1914. Belgian Marcel Buysse won the race in a sprint of a seven-strong group on the velodrome of Evergem, part of Ghent. 19 of 47 riders finished. The race started and finished in Ghent.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">1919 Tour of Flanders</span> Cycling race

The 1919 Tour of Flanders was the third edition of the Tour of Flanders road cycling race was held on 23 March 1919 and was won by the Belgian Henri Van Lerberghe. Van Lerberghe broke clear at 120 km from the finish in a solo effort and maintained his lead to the finish. He finished 14 minutes ahead of the first group of chasers, the largest winning margin in the history of the race. Léon Buysse won the sprint for second place before Jules Van Hevel. The race started in the centre of Ghent and finished in Gentbrugge, on the outskirts of Ghent. The total distance was 230 kilometres.

The 25th edition of the Tour of Flanders cycling classic race was held on Sunday, 4 May 1941. Belgian Achiel Buysse won the Monument for a second time in a row. In total, 38 of 112 riders finished.

The 26th edition of the Tour of Flanders cycling classic race was held on Sunday, 6 April 1942. Belgian Briek Schotte won the Monument for a first time. In total, 22 of 67 riders finished.

The 27th edition of the Tour of Flanders cycling classic race was held on Sunday, 19 April 1946. Belgian Achiel Buysse won the Monument for a third time. In total, 37 of 126 riders finished.

The 28th running of the Tour of Flanders cycling classic was held on Sunday, 2 April 1946. Belgian Rik van Steenbergen finished as first. Aged 19, he still is the youngest cyclist ever to win this Monument. In total, 34 of 103 riders finished.

The 29th edition of the Tour of Flanders cycling classic race was held on Sunday, 10 June 1945. Belgian Sylvain Grysolle won the Monument. Of the 91 starting cyclists, 31 reached the finish.

The 30th running of the Tour of Flanders cycling classic was held on Sunday, 14 April 1946. 21-year old Rik van Steenbergen, who also won the 1944 edition, arrived solo. Of the 219 starting cyclists, 37 reached the finish.

The 16th running of the Tour of Flanders for Women, a women's cycling race in Belgium, was held on 7 April 2019. It was the sixth event of the 2019 UCI Women's World Tour. Anna van der Breggen was the defending champion. The race was won by Marta Bastianelli.

Luc Colijn is a Belgian former professional racing cyclist. He rode in the 1981 Tour de France. He currently works as a directeur sportif for Team Flanders–Baloise. He is the grandson of cyclist Achiel Buysse.
