The 5th BRDC International Trophy meeting was held on 9 May 1953 at the Silverstone Circuit, Northamptonshire. The race was run to Formula Two regulations, and was held over two heats of 15 laps each, followed by a final race of 35 laps. Mike Hawthorn, driving a Ferrari 500 won the final and shared fastest lap with Emmanuel de Graffenried. de Graffenried was the fastest qualifier. [1] [2]

John Michael Hawthorn was a British racing driver. He became the United Kingdom's first Formula One World Champion driver in 1958, whereupon he announced his retirement, having been profoundly affected by the death of his teammate and friend Peter Collins two months earlier in the 1958 German Grand Prix. He died in a road accident three months after retiring.

The 1954 Spanish Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held on 24 October 1954 at Pedralbes. It was the ninth and final race in the 1954 World Championship of Drivers. The 80-lap race was won by Ferrari driver Mike Hawthorn after he started from third position. Luigi Musso finished second for the Maserati team and Mercedes driver Juan Manuel Fangio came in third.

The 1952 Formula One season was the sixth season of FIA Formula One motor racing. In comparison to previous seasons, the 1952 season consisted of a relatively small number of Formula One races, following the decision to run all the Grand Prix events counting towards the World Championship of Drivers to Formula Two regulations rather than Formula One. The Indianapolis 500, which also counted towards the World Championship, was still run to AAA regulations as in previous seasons. Since this season racing helmets were made mandatory in Formula One.

The 1949 British Grand Prix was a Grand Prix motor race which was held at Silverstone on 14 May 1949. The race was won by Emmanuel de Graffenried driving a Maserati 4CLT.

The 3rd London Trophy was a motor race, run to Formula One rules, held on 30 July 1955 at Crystal Palace Circuit, London. The race was run over two heats of 10 laps and a final of 15 laps, and was won by British driver Mike Hawthorn in a Maserati 250F. Hawthorn started from pole position in Heat 1 and set fastest lap in the heat, and also in the final. Vanwall driver Harry Schell started from pole position in Heat 2 and set fastest lap in that heat. Schell was second in the final and Roy Salvadori in a Maserati 250F was third.

The 4th BRDC International Trophy meeting was held on 10 May 1952 at the Silverstone Circuit, Northamptonshire. The race was run to Formula Two regulations, and was held over two heats of 15 laps each, followed by a final race of 35 laps. British driver Lance Macklin, driving an HWM-Alta won the final. Mike Hawthorn in a Cooper T20-Bristol was the fastest qualifier, and Rudi Fischer in a Ferrari 500 set overall fastest lap.

The IV Circuit du Lac was a Formula Two motor race held on 8 June 1952 at the Aix-les-Bains Circuit du Lac, France. The race was run over two heats each of 40 laps, with the winner being decided by aggregate time. The winner was Jean Behra in a Gordini Type 16, who started from pole in both heats, won both heats and set overall fastest lap. Lance Macklin was second in an HWM-Alta and Emmanuel de Graffenried third in a Maserati 4CLT/48. Behra's teammate Robert Manzon set fastest lap in heat 1, but succumbed to mechanical failure in heat 2.

The 4th Circuit de Cadours was a Formula Two motor race held on 14 September 1952 at the Circuit de Cadours, in Cadours, Tarn-et-Garonne, France. The race, consisting of 2x15 lap heats and a 30 lap final, was won by Louis Rosier in a Ferrari 500. Harry Schell finished second in a Gordini Type 16, and set fastest lap, and Emmanuel de Graffenried was third in a Maserati 4CLT/48.

The 3rd Syracuse Grand Prix was a non-championship Formula Two motor race held in Syracuse, Sicily on 22 March 1953. The race was won by Emmanuel de Graffenried in a Maserati A6GCM. Louis Chiron was second in an O.S.C.A. Tipo 20 and Rodney Nuckey third in a Cooper T23-Bristol. Alberto Ascari started from pole and set fastest lap but retired with mechanical failure, as did every other works Ferrari, in contrast to last year's 1-2-3 walkover.

The 5th Lavant Cup was a non-championship Formula Two motor race held at Goodwood Circuit on 6 April 1953. The race was won by Emmanuel de Graffenried in a Maserati A6GCM. Roy Salvadori, starting from pole, finished second in a Connaught Type A-Lea Francis, setting fastest lap in the process. Tony Rolt was third in another Type A.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">1953 Ulster Trophy</span> Motor car race

The 7th Ulster Trophy was a non-championship Formula Two motor race held at the Dundrod Circuit on 16 May 1953. The race was held over two heats of 10 laps and a final of 14 laps. Mike Hawthorn driving a Ferrari 500 won the final from pole position ahead of the Cooper T23-Bristol of Ken Wharton and the Ferrari 500 of Bobbie Baird. Hawthorn also set fastest lap in the final, and overall fastest lap in the second heat which he also won, again from pole position. Stirling Moss in a Connaught Type A-Lea Francis set pole and fastest lap in the first heat but finished second behind Duncan Hamilton's HWM-Alta. Moss failed to start the final, while Hamilton finished sixth.

The 17th Internationales ADAC-Eifelrennen was a non-championship Formula Two motor race held on 31 May 1953 at the Nürburgring circuit. The race was run over 7 laps of the circuit, and was won by Swiss driver Emmanuel de Graffenried in a Maserati A6GCM. de Graffenried also set fastest lap. Paul Frère finished second and Peter Collins third in their HWM-Altas.

The 4th Gran Premio di Modena was a Formula Two motor race held on 20 September 1953 at the Autodromo di Modena, Italy. The race was run over 100 laps of the circuit, and was won by Argentinian driver Juan Manuel Fangio in a Maserati A6GCM. Fangio also qualified on pole and set fastest lap. His teammates Onofre Marimón and Emmanuel de Graffenried finished second and third.

The 5th Richmond Trophy was a Formula Libre motor race held at the Goodwood Circuit, West Sussex on 6 April 1953. The race was won from pole position by Ken Wharton in a BRM Type 15, setting fastest lap in the process. Piero Taruffi in the Thinwall Special Ferrari 375 was second and Emmanuel de Graffenried third in a Maserati A6GCM.
