The Dartmouth Outing Club (DOC) is the oldest and largest collegiate outing club in the United States. Proposed in 1909 by Dartmouth College student Fred Harris to "stimulate interest in out-of-door winter sports", the club soon grew to encompass the College's year-round outdoor recreation and has had a major role in defining Dartmouth College.
The U.S. Ski Team, operated under the auspices of the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), develops and supports men's and women's athletes in the sports of alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, cross-country, ski jumping, and Nordic combined. Since 1974 the team and association have been headquartered in Park City, Utah.

Betsy Baxter Snite was an American alpine ski racer and Olympic medalist. She competed in the Winter Olympics in 1956 and 1960 and won the silver medal in the slalom in the latter.

The Women's giant slalom competition of the Sarajevo 1984 Olympics was held at Jahorina on Monday, February 13. Because of weather delays with the downhills, this was the first alpine event of these Olympics.
The 2013 NCAA Skiing Championships were held in Vermont and Vermont on March 6–9, 2013. Middlebury College hosted the event with alpine events at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl and Nordic events taking place at the Rikert Nordic Center. The competition was won by the Colorado Buffaloes after compiling the largest final-day comeback in NCAA Skiing Championships history. Twenty-one teams from three regions sent skiers to compete for the NCAA collegiate team championship and individual titles.
The 2014 NCAA Skiing Championships were held in Park City, Utah and Midway, Utah on March 5–8, 2014. Utah hosted the event with alpine events at Park City Ski Resort and Nordic events taking place at Soldier Hollow in nearby Midway, UT. Utah hosted for the fourth time, all have happened in Park City, the other times being 1981, 1991 and 2000.
