The 1966 Federation Cup was the fourth edition of what is now known as the Fed Cup. 21 nations participated in the tournament, which was held at the Turin Press Sporting Club in Turin, Italy from 10 to 15 May. United States won their second title, defeating West Germany in the final, in what was the first final not featuring Australia. [1]

The 1963 Federation Cup was the first edition of what is now known as the Fed Cup. The tournament was created provide a team competition for women, similar to the Davis Cup men's competition. 16 nations participated in the first event, which was held at the Queen's Club in London, United Kingdom from 17–20 June. United States won the first title, defeating Australia in the final.
The 1964 Federation Cup was the second edition of what is now known as the Fed Cup. 20 nations participated in the tournament, which was held at the Germantown Cricket Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, from 1–5 September. Australia won the title, defeating defending champions United States in the final.
The 1967 Federation Cup was the fifth edition of what is now known as the Fed Cup. 17 nations participated in the tournament, which was held at the Blau-Weiss Tennis Club in West Berlin from 6–11 June. United States defended their title, defeating Great Britain in the final.

Australia defeated the Netherlands in the final, in what was the first final not featuring United States, giving Australia their third title.

United States defeated Australia in the final, in what was the fourth final featuring both teams.

The 1972 Federation Cup was the tenth edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. 31 nations participated in the tournament, which was held at Ellis Park in Johannesburg, South Africa from 20–25 March. South Africa defeated Great Britain in the final, in what was the first final not featuring United States or Australia, giving South Africa their first title. South Africa became the first team other than United States or Australia to win the Fed Cup.

Czechoslovakia defeated Australia in the final, giving Czechoslovakia their first title.
The 1976 Federation Cup was the 14th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. For the first time, enough teams entered to necessitate pre-qualifying rounds. The tiebreaker also was used for the first time. The tournament was held at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, United States, from 22 to 29 August. The United States defeated Australia in the final, in what was the sixth final between United States and Australia.

The tournament was held at the RSHE Club Campo in Madrid, Spain, from 30 April – 6 May. The United States won their fourth consecutive title, defeating Australia in their ninth final.
The 1980 Federation Cup was the 18th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at the Rot-Weiss Tennis Club in West Berlin from 19 to 25 May. The United States won their fifth consecutive title, defeating Australia in their tenth and record eighth consecutive final. The US did not drop a single match during the tournament.

The tournament was held at the Albisguetli Tennis Club in Zürich, Switzerland from 17 to 24 July. Czechoslovakia won the title, defeating West Germany in the final, in what was the first final since 1972 that didn't involve United States or Australia.

ČLTK Prague in Prague, Czechoslovakia, from 20 to 27 July. The United States defeated three-time defending champions Czechoslovakia in the final, giving the USA their 12th title. The finals marked Martina Navratilova's first return to Czechoslovakia since her defection to the United States in 1975.

The tournament was held at Hollyburn Country Club in Vancouver, Canada, from 26 July – 2 August. West Germany won their first title, defeating the United States in the final. This was their first victory after four previous final appearances.

The tournament was held at Flinders Park in Melbourne, Australia, from 4–11 December. Czechoslovakia defeated the Soviet Union in the final, giving Czechoslovakia their 5th title, and 4th in six years.

The tournament was held at Ariake Tennis Forest Park in Tokyo, Japan, from 1–9 October. The United States won the tournament without losing a rubber, defeating Spain in the final, giving the USA their 13th title.
The World Group was the highest level of Federation Cup competition in 1991. Thirty-two nations competed in a five-round knockout competition from 22 to 28 July. United States was the two-time defending champion, but Spain won the final to claim its first title.
