The 1973 Wimbledon Championships was a tennis tournament that took place on the outdoor grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom. The tournament was scheduled to be held from Monday 25 June until Saturday 7 July 1973 but rain on the final Friday meant that the women's singles final was postponed until Saturday and the mixed doubles final was rescheduled to Sunday 8 July. It was the 87th staging of the Wimbledon Championships, and the third Grand Slam tennis event of 1973. Jan Kodeš and Billie Jean King won the singles titles. King became the first player in the open era to claim the triple crown, the second time in her career she won all three titles open to women players. Her three victories necessitated playing six matches on the final weekend of the tournament: The singles final, the doubles semi-final and final and the mixed doubles quarter-final, semi-final and final, which was played on the extended Sunday schedule.

Two-time defending champion Björn Borg defeated Jimmy Connors in a rematch of the previous year's final, 6–2, 6–2, 6–3 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1978 Wimbledon Championships. It was his third Wimbledon title and sixth major title overall.

Jimmy Connors defeated Ken Rosewall in the final, 6–1, 6–1, 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1974 Wimbledon Championships. It was his first Wimbledon title and second major title overall. Rosewall was contesting his last career major final, and was attempting to complete the career Grand Slam.

Arthur Ashe defeated the defending champion Jimmy Connors in the final, 6–1, 6–1, 5–7, 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1975 Wimbledon Championships. It was his first Wimbledon singles title and third and last major singles title overall. He became the first Black man to win the singles title at Wimbledon, and the second Black player to do so overall, after Althea Gibson.

Defending champion Björn Borg defeated Jimmy Connors in the final, 3–6, 6–2, 6–1, 5–7, 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1977 Wimbledon Championships. It was his second Wimbledon title and fourth major title overall.

Björn Borg defeated Ilie Năstase in the final, 6–4, 6–2, 9–7 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1976 Wimbledon Championships. It was the first of his five consecutive Wimbledon titles, and his third major title overall. He became the first man in the Open Era to win the title without losing a set during the tournament.

Stan Smith defeated Ilie Năstase in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–3, 4–6, 7–5 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1972 Wimbledon Championships. It was his first Wimbledon singles title, and his second and last major singles title. Due to rain washing out the final Saturday when the final was due to take place, the final became the first match in Wimbledon history to take place on a Sunday. Not until 10 years later in 1982 did Wimbledon men's singles finals start being deliberately scheduled for Sunday.

Jan Kodeš defeated Alex Metreveli in the final, 6–1, 9–8(7–5), 6–3 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1973 Wimbledon Championships. It was his first Wimbledon title and third and last major singles title overall. The final included a tie-break played at 8–8 in the second set; it was the first ever Wimbledon singles final to feature a tie-break.

Vitas Gerulaitis and Sandy Mayer were the defending champions, but lost in the quarterfinals to Ross Case and Geoff Masters.

John Newcombe and Tony Roche were the defending champions, but lost in the first round to Cliff Drysdale and Nikola Pilić.

In the mixed doubles games of the 1971 Wimbledon Championships, Ilie Năstase and Rosie Casals were the defending champions, but lost in the semifinals to Owen Davidson and Billie Jean King.

Ilie Năstase and Rosie Casals were the defending champions, but lost in the semifinals to Raúl Ramírez and Janet Newberry. Rain delays to the tournament necessitated matches from the fourth round, quarterfinals, semifinals and the final itself being completed on the last two days of the tournament. Davidson and King played three matches on the final day of the tournament to earn their victory, giving King the triple crown. No other player has won the triple crown at Wimbledon in the open era.
