<span class="mw-page-title-main">FISU World University Games</span> International multi-sport event for university athletes

The FISU World University Games, formerly the Universiade, is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The former name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad".

The 1997 Winter Universiade, the XVIII Winter Universiade, took place in Muju and Chonju (Jeonju), South Korea. The snow sport events were held in Muju Resort in Muju, while the ice events were held in Chonju.

The 1989 Winter Universiade, the XIV Winter Universiade, took place in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The 1983 Winter Universiade, the XI Winter Universiade, took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. This was one of only four Universiades since Winter 1981 with no official mascot.

Yordanka Blagoeva is a former Bulgarian high jumper. She competed at the 1968, 1972, 1976 and 1980 Olympics and finished in 17th, 2nd, 3rd and 16th place, respectively. She won the high jump at the 1965 Summer Universiade and 1973 European Athletics Indoor Championships. On 24 September 1972 she became the first Bulgarian athlete to break a world record. Next year she also set a new indoor high jump record, and was ranked as the best high jumper in Europe.

Vitaliy Viktorovych Yehorov or Vitali Egorov is a former competitive figure skater for the Soviet Union. He is the 1986 Skate Canada International champion, the 1986 Nebelhorn Trophy champion, the 1979 World Junior champion, a two-time Winter Universiade silver medalist, and the 1984 Soviet national champion.

Aleko is a site on Vitosha Mountain in Bulgaria situated at the northern foothills of Malak Rezen Peak, in the watershed of Yanchevska River draining eastwards towards the village of Bistritsa, Sofia.

Valentina Dimitrova was a heptathlete who competed for Bulgaria during her career. She won the gold medal at the 1977 Summer Universiade. Dimitrova set her personal best in the heptathlon on 29 May 1983 at a meet in Götzis.

The 2015 Winter Universiade, the XXVII Winter Universiade, was a multi sport winter event held in Granada, Spain and Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia. On 14 March 2009, FISU announced that the host would be Granada because they were the only bid.

The Bulgarian Figure Skating Championships are the figure skating national championship held annually to determine the national champions of Bulgaria. Skaters compete in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, and ice dancing, although not every discipline is held every year due to a lack of participants. The event is organized by the Bulgarian Skating Federation.

Yordan Chuchuganov is a Bulgarian cross-country skier. Chuchuganov was born on 25 February 1996. He debuted in the FIS World Cup in 2014 and participated at the 2015 and 2017 World Ski Championships. He missed the 2014 Winter Olympics because of injury following an accident. He participated at the 2017 Winter Universiade and qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
