Marina Vikentyevna Lobatch is a former Soviet individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 1988 Olympic champion, 1987 world gold medalist in hoop and 1988 European gold medalist in rope and ribbon.
The "Golden Girls" of Bulgaria refers to the generation of female rhythmic gymnasts who represented Bulgaria from 1976 to 1999 when the team was coached by Neshka Robeva. In this period, the Golden Girls won 14 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships titles in individual and ensemble performances; 14 Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships titles, and an assortment of other world and European titles.
The Bulgarian Olympic Committee claims one gymnast, Charles Champaud, competed for the nation at the 1896 Summer Olympics. This makes Bulgaria one of the 14 nations to appear at the inaugural Summer Olympic Games. Champaud, a Swiss gymnastics teacher living in Sofia, is often included in Swiss results for the 1896 Games, which were held before the advent of National Olympic Committees.
The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships are the world championships for the sport of rhythmic gymnastics. The tournament is promoted and organized by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). It is one of the three tournaments in rhythmic gymnastics officially organized by FIG, as well as the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup and the gymnastics competitions at the Olympic Games. The first edition of the World Championships was held in 1963, a time when the sport was known as modern gymnastics. The current program of the World Championships contemplates both individual and group performances. In even non-Olympic years and the year before the Olympics, a team event is also contested. Two events are not competed at the World Championships anymore: individual rope and free hands.
Stoyan Deltchev is a Bulgarian gymnast and Olympic champion. He competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow where he received a gold medal in horizontal bar and a bronze medal in all-around individual.
Lubomir Geraskov is a Bulgarian gymnast and Olympic champion. He competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul where he won Olympic gold on pommel horse.
1987 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships were held in Varna, Bulgaria on September 17–20, 1987.
Boriana Stoyanova is a retired Bulgarian artistic gymnast. She was the 1983 World Champion on the vault and represented Bulgaria at the 1984 Friendship Games (Oloumouc) and the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. She was also a member of the 1985 and 1987 teams that competed at the World Championships.
Palace of Culture and Sports is an indoor complex for culture and sport located in Varna, Bulgaria. The complex has three sports halls - "Kongresna Hall", "Mladost Hall" and "Hall 20". The Palace of Culture and Sports was completed in 1968.

Mihaela Maevska is a Bulgarian Group rhythmic gymnast. She was part of the Bulgarian group that won bronze in group all-around at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She also won gold at the 2014 World Championships in Group all-around and bronze at the 2011 World Championships.
Tsvetelina Yordanova Stoyanova is a Bulgarian group rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2008 European Junior bronze medalist in rope. She won the gold medal in the Group-all around the 2014 World Championships.
Zhong Xingping is a female Chinese trampoline gymnast. She won silver medal in the 2013 Trampoline World championship at Sofia, Bulgaria and 2014 Asian Games – Women's trampoline at Incheon, South Korea.
The Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior European Championships are the European championships for junior gymnasts for the sport of rhythmic gymnastics. They were first held in 1987. Prior to 1993, they were held as a separate event. Since the 1993 edition in Bucharest, Romania, the Junior European Championships were integrated to the senior European Championships. The competition is organized by the European Union of Gymnastics.
The 2018 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships were held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 10 to 16 September 2018 at Arena Armeec. The top three countries in the group all-around, Russia, Italy, and Bulgaria won the first three spots for the 2020 Olympic Games. Russia was the most successful nation of the competition with seven of the nine gold medals, and Bulgaria and Italy each won a title.
