Oryahovo is a port city in northwestern Bulgaria, part of Vratsa Province. It is located in a hilly area on the right bank of the Danube, just east of the mouth of the river Ogosta, a few more kilometres downstream from where the Jiu flows into the Danube on Romanian territory. In 2016, she became the runner-up at the Croatian International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Alex Vlaar. She won two titles at the Hellas International tournament in the women's singles and doubles event. She was part of the national team that won the silver medal at the 2016 European Women's Team Championships in Kazan, Russia.
The Bulgarian International Championship is an international badminton tournament held in Bulgaria since 2012. This tournament also known as Bulgarian Hebar Open or Bulgarian Eurasia Open. The 2014 tournament used the best of five games 11 points scoring system. Another badminton tournament in Bulgaria with the higher level known as Bulgarian Open.
Alex Christiaan Vlaar is a Dutch-Bulgarian badminton player. He was born in Lelystad, the Netherlands. His father Chris Vlaar is a Dutch rally car driver and badminton coach, his mother is former badminton player Emilia Dimitrova who is also a coach. She played for Bulgaria at the 1992 Olympics women's doubles.
The 2017 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships was held in Lubin, Poland, between 15–19 February 2017 and organised by Badminton Europe and Polish Badminton Federation. Denmark, the defending champion, retained their title after defeating Russia by 3-0 in the final.

Popov had won seven Bulgarian National Championships title, 3 in the singles event, and four in the men's doubles event partnered with Svetoslav Stoyanov. In France, he clinched two times men's doubles national title in 2004 partnered with Manuel Dubrulle, and in 2007 with Stoyanov.
The Bulgaria national badminton team represents Bulgaria in international badminton team competitions and is controlled by the Bulgarian Badminton Federation. The Bulgarian women's team achieved second place in the 2016 European Men's and Women's Team Badminton Championships, they were semifinalists two years prior.
The Serbia national badminton team represents Serbia in international badminton team competitions. The Badminton Association of Serbia organizes any event or national event in the national team. The men's and women's team participate in the European meet. The Serbian team also competes in the Mediterranean Games.
