The 1987 All Japan Touring Car Champion was the 3rd edition of the series. It began at Mine on 21 March and finished after six events at Suzuka on 4 December. The championship was won by Naoki Nagasaka, driving for Object T. [1]

Mine Circuit (みねサーキット) was a 3.331 km motor racing circuit in Nagao, Nishiatsu-cho, Mine, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. It used to be known as Nishinihon. The track closed in February 2006.

Suzuka Circuit motorsport track in Japan

Naoki Nagasaka is a Japanese former racing driver. He has competed professionally in several Japan championships from the 1970s to the 1990s. He won the Japanese Touring Car Championship in 1985 and 1987, where he collected 6 wins and 15 podiums. He was also crowned at the 1984 All Japan Sports Prototype Championship.

Peter Whitehead (racing driver) English racing driver (1914-1958)

Peter Nield Whitehead was a British racing driver. He was born in Menston, Yorkshire and was killed in an accident at Lasalle, France, during the Tour de France endurance race. A cultured, knowledgeable and well-travelled racer, he was excellent in sports cars. He won the 1938 Australian Grand Prix, which along with a 24 Heures du Mans win in 1951, probably was his finest achievement, but he also won two 12 Heures internationales de Reims events. He was a regular entrant, mostly for Peter Walker and Graham Whitehead, his half-brother. His death in 1958 ended a career that started in 1935 – however, he was lucky to survive an air crash in 1948.

2007 Noto earthquake earthquake

At 9:41:58 a.m. on March 25, 2007, the Noto Peninsula earthquake, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake, struck the Hokuriku region of Japan, near the Noto Peninsula. The earthquake shook the city of Wajima, the city of Nanao, and the town of Anamizu with a seismic intensity of 6+ on Japan's shindo scale. One death, in the city of Wajima, and at least 356 injuries have been reported.

The 1998 Japanese Touring Car Championship was the 14th edition of the series. It began at Fuji Speedway on 5 April and finished after seven events, also at Fuji Speedway on 8 November. The championship was won for the second time by Masanori Sekiya, driving for Toyota Team TOM's.

The 1997 Japanese Touring Car Championship season was the 13th edition of the series. It began at Fuji Speedway on 6 April and finished after eight events, also at Fuji Speedway on 2 November. The championship was won by Osamu Nakako, driving for Mugen Honda.
