  • Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sign the Wye River Memorandum which details the steps to be taken by the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli government to implement the earlier Interim Agreement of 1995. ^[3]
  • Malawi recognizes the State of Palestine. 101 countries recognized the State of Palestine by the end of 1998. ^[4]
• 15 November – Palestine celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Palestinian Declaration of Independence. ^[5]
