The 1999 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 20th of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. [1] GD Amarantes won their first and only title. Sporting Clube da Praia would be the only time that a non-winning title would participate in the 2000 CAF Champions League, the criteria for qualification was not continued. [2] No club took part in the 2000 CAF Winners' Cup.

Overview

CS Mindelense was the defending team of the title. A total of 8 clubs participated in the competition, one from each island league, no club came from Santiago Island as the competition was cancelled for the season. The season had 6 matches in Group A but a shorter 2 and 3 matches in Group B, [1] it was the first ever season with twice the meetings with each club of the group, occurred in only one croup, the next time it was done was in 2017 with the club and the first in each of the three groups.

The league was contested by 8 teams with GD Amarantes winning the championship. [1] New records were made, Amarantes finished with a new record with 13 points since the points per win risen to three in the nation, Juventude got 10 points, at the time, it became the second highest point in the championships. Two years later, the highest point record was superseded by Onze Unidos. In goal numbers, Solpontense scored the most with 14 and was a record at the national championships, it was superseded in 2001 by Botafogo.

It marked the last appearance of GD Amarantes at the top-level competition.

Sporting would win their 8th title and fourth straight after defeating the city's rival Académica. This was the first final competition that featured two clubs from the same island as well as the same city, it happened the following season with Boavista. Sporting Praia's next and final title would win in 2012.

The 2011 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 32nd of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. Its started on 14 May and finished on 9 July, later than last year. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. CS Mindelense won the 2011 title. No teams would participate in the 2012 CAF Champions League or the 2012 CAF Confederation Cup.

Vulcânicos Futebol Clube or Vulcânico Clube do Fogo is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Fogo Island Division in Cape Verde. It is based in São Filipe the island of Fogo. The club has a total of nine island titles. Académica do Fogo are one of the unrelegated clubs on the island which includes Académica and Botafogo. Its current chairman is Raúl Santos who recently became in May 2017, its manager is Danildo Diniz and its goalkeeping coach is Emanuel Gomes.

Its started on 5 May and finished on 7 July, slightly earlier than last year. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. Sporting Praia won the ninth title, it would be the club's most recent title win. This time, Sporting Praia did not participate in the 2013 CAF Champions League. No club also participated in the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup. The 2017 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 38th beginner level competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. It started on 13 May and finished on 27 August, it started a days later than last season. Originally to finish on 15 July, instead, it was rescheduled to 27 August. The championship was governed by the Cape Verdean Football Federation.
