The 1999 World Men's Handball Championship was the 16th edition of the World Championship in team handball. It was held in Egypt, from 1 to 15 June, in the cities of Cairo, Ismailia and Port Said. Sweden won the championship.

The 2003 World Men's Handball Championship took place in Portugal from 20 January to 2 February 2003. It was the 18th edition of the World Championship in team handball and Croatia won the championship.
The 2009 World Women's Handball Championship was the 19th edition, second to take place outside Europe, of the international championship tournament in women's team sport handball that is governed by the International Handball Federation (IHF). China hosted the event from 5-20 December 2009. Russia successfully contested France in the final, their fourth title.
The men's handball tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held from August 10 to August 24, at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium and National Indoor Stadium in Beijing. Twelve nations are represented in the men's tournament.
The women's handball tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics is being held from August 9 to August 23, at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium and National Indoor Stadium in Beijing. Twelve nations are represented in the women's tournament.
The 2009 Men's Youth World Handball Championship took place in Tunisia from July 20–July 31.
The 2009 Men's Junior World Handball Championship took place in Egypt from August 5–19.
The 2010 Women's Junior World Handball Championship took place in South Korea from July 17 to July 31.
The 2010 IHF Women's Youth World Championship was the third edition and took place at Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic from August 2–12. The defending champion was Russia. Sweden won the title this year.
The 2011 Men's Junior World Handball Championship was the 18th edition of the tournament and was held at Thessaloniki, Greece from July 17–31, 2011.
The 2011 Men's Youth World Handball Championship was the fourth edition of the world event for youth handballers, which was held in Argentina between August 10–20, 2011. In accordance with the IHF regulations, only players born on or after 1 January 1992 were eligible to enter the competition. The minimum age for the participation was 16.
The 2012 Women's Junior World Handball Championship was the 18th edition of the tournament and took place in the Czech Republic from 1 to 14 July.
The 2012 Women's Youth World Handball Championship was the 4th edition of the tournament and took place in the Montenegro from 16 to 26 August 2012.
The 2013 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 19th edition of the tournament and was held in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 14 – 28 July 2013.
The 2007 Men's Junior World Handball Championship was the 16th edition of the tournament and was held at Skopje and Ohrid, Macedonia from August 13–26, 2007.
The 2013 IHF Men's Youth World Championship was the 5th edition of the tournament and was held at Hungary from 10 – 23 August 2013.
The 2014 Pan American Men's Handball Championship, was the 16th official competition for senior men's national handball teams of North, Center, Caribbean and South America. It was held from 23 to 29 June 2014 in Uruguay. It also acted as the qualifying competition for the 2015 World Men's Handball Championship, securing three vacancies for the World Championship.
The 2014 IHF Women's Junior World Championship was the 19th edition of the tournament and took place in Croatia from 28 June to 13 July 2014.
The 2015 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 20th edition of the tournament and held at Brazil from 19 July to 1 August 2015. The decision to select Brazil as the host was announced 1 August 2014. France won their first title by defeating Denmark 26–24 in the final.
The 2015 IHF Emerging Nations Championship was the first edition of the IHF Emerging Nations Championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The tournament was held in Pristina and Gjakova, Kosovo, from 20 to 26 June.
The 2017 IHF Men's Youth World Championship was the seventh edition of the U-19 tournament and held in Tbilisi, Georgia from 8 to 20 August 2017. All matches were played in two halls at the Olympic Palace.
