The Latvian Football Cup 2000 was the 59th edition of the Latvian football knockout tournament. [1]

Skonto Riga successfully pursued its title on 2000-05-27 in the final against FK Liepājas Metalurgs, 4–1, in Daugava Stadium.

FK Liepājas Metalurgs was a Latvian football club in the city of Liepāja and playing in the Virslīga. They played at the Daugava Stadium. In 2005 Liepājas Metalurgs became the first team other than Skonto Riga to win the Virslīga since the league restarted in 1991. After the 2013 league season the club was dissolved due to the bankruptcy of its sole sponsor metallurgical plant Liepājas Metalurgs. The club was replaced by FK Liepāja, founded in 2014.

Jurijs Andrejevs is a Latvian former football player and manager who is the sporting director of Latvian Football Federation. Previously he was the manager of the team but was released in 2008 after an unsuccessful season. He was the manager of Latvia national team from 2004 to 2007, having succeeded Aleksandrs Starkovs in December 2004.

The 2008 Baltic League was the second Baltic League football tournament. The tournament took place in the Baltic states in 2008. The first matches took place on 4 March.

However, their appeals against this were successful and the league was restored to ten clubs.

The 2009 season was Futbola Klubs Ventspils's 12th year in existence as a football club. In addition to the Latvian Higher League, Ventspils participated in this season's editions of the Latvian Football Cup, the Baltic League, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
