The 1998–99 UEFA Cup was won by Parma in the final against Marseille. It was their second title in the competition.

The 1981–82 European Cup Winners' Cup was the 22nd season of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, a club football competition organised by UEFA for the national cup winners from each of its member associations. Spanish club Barcelona won the title for a second time after beating Belgian side Standard Liège 2–1 in the final at Camp Nou.

The 2005 UEFA Intertoto Cup finals were won by Lens, Marseille, and Hamburg. All three teams advanced to the UEFA Cup.

The 1995 UEFA Intertoto Cup was the first edition of the tournament administered by the UEFA. It saw Strasbourg and Bordeaux win their semi-finals to advance to the first round of the UEFA Cup, the latter eventually finishing runners-up. It also saw English representatives Wimbledon and Tottenham Hotspur banned from European competition for the following season, after both had fielded under-strength sides in their respective Intertoto Cup matches. The 1980–81 UEFA Cup was the 10th edition of the UEFA Cup, the third-tier club football competition organised by UEFA. The final was played over two legs at Portman Road, Ipswich, England, and at the Olympic Stadium, Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was won by Ipswich Town of England, who defeated AZ Alkmaar of the Netherlands by an aggregate result of 5–4 to claim their only UEFA Cup title.

The 1979–80 UEFA Cup was the ninth season of the UEFA Cup, the third-tier club football competition organised by UEFA. The final was played in West Germany over two legs, at the Bökelbergstadion., Mönchengladbach, and at the Waldstadion, Frankfurt. It was won by Eintracht Frankfurt, who defeated title holders and fellow West German side Borussia Mönchengladbach on the away goals rule after a 3–3 aggregate draw to claim their first UEFA Cup title.

The 1973–74 UEFA Cup was the third season of the UEFA Cup, the third-tier club football competition organised by UEFA. The final was played over two legs at White Hart Lane, London, England, and at De Kuip, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It was won by Feyenoord of the Netherlands, who defeated Tottenham Hotspur of England by an aggregate result of 4–2 to claim their first UEFA Cup title.

The 2003 UEFA Intertoto Cup finals were won by Schalke 04, Villarreal, and Perugia. All three teams advanced to the UEFA Cup.

The 1996 UEFA Intertoto Cup finals were won by Silkeborg, Guingamp, and Karlsruhe. All three teams advanced to the UEFA Cup. No English team took part in support of Tottenham Hotspur and Wimbledon initially getting banned by UEFA from European competition, after both fielded under-strength sides in the previous year's competition.

The 1997 UEFA Intertoto Cup finals were won by three French teams – Lyon, Bastia, and Auxerre. All three teams advanced to the UEFA Cup.

The 1999 UEFA Intertoto Cup finals were won by Montpellier, Juventus, and West Ham United. All three teams advanced to the UEFA Cup.

The 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup finals were won by Aston Villa, Paris Saint-Germain and Troyes. All three teams advanced to the UEFA Cup.

The 2002 UEFA Intertoto Cup finals were won by Málaga, Fulham, and Stuttgart. All three teams advanced to the UEFA Cup.

The qualification for the UEFA Women's Euro 2001 was held between 21 August 1999 & 28 November 2000. The first-placed of the group stage qualified directly. The second-placed and the third-placed teams played in two playoff matches for four other berths.

The final phase of the 2000–01 UEFA Cup began on 21 November 2000 with the third round and concluded on 16 May 2001 with the final at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund, Germany. A total of 32 teams competed in this phase of the competition.

The first round of the 2004–05 UEFA Cup began on 13 September 2004, which narrowed clubs down to 40 teams in preparation for the group stage.
