During the 2000 season Brian Natkin became the first, and so far only, unanimous All-American in UTEP football history. [1]

The UTEP Miners are best known as the first team in Texas to win an NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. UTEP's colors are orange and blue and the mascot is a miner named Paydirt Pete.
